We provide a comprehensive service for people of all ages with long-term mobility problems and associated postural needs, and work within an agreed list of criteria. Our expert knowledge will help ensure that you get the right equipment to meet your needs, and once on our books we will continue to support you on an ongoing basis, be there to help, and to maintain the wheelchair we have issued to you. This service is available to adults and children with a long-term disability (lasting more than six months) who are registered with a Bexley GP. You will need a referral from your doctor or another health care professional (such as an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or district nurse).  If you are already known to the service, you can contact us directly without needing a new referral.  Our telephone number is 020 3045 3755. Office hours:  8.30am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday We work to an agreed eligibility criteria, which sets out what types of equipment we are able to provide and in what circumstances.

All referrals are looked at by our therapy team, and prioritised. A member of our team will contact you to find out more about you and your mobility needs, and to check if you meet the criteria. You may require a face-to-face assessment; this may be in our clinic, or in your own home or school. At this appointment we will discuss what equipment you might need, trial some equipment and agree what we can provide that will meet your mobility needs (plus any other postural and pressure care items). The equipment is then ordered, and when ready will be handed over to you and adjusted to suit as appropriate by either a member of the therapy team or by the wheelchair contractors, AJM Healthcare. (Please see below for more information about AJM Healthcare). AJM provides a mobile repair service to our fleet of wheelchairs (you should not attempt to repair your wheelchair yourself). This work can be carried out in your own home (or school or day centre by arrangement if this is where you spend your time during each day).
