Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Bogdan.

I am currently working at the Center for Quantum Information, Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), South Korea. But about everything step by step.

I was born in the city of Kryvyi Rih and I love my hometown very much.

After school’s 9 year study I entered the Mining technical school. At first, I wanted to be a miner, like my father, but at the last moment I changed my plans and chose the specialty "electronics". At that time, I did not know anything about electronics at all, and it was very difficult for me. During the first two years of study, I often asked myself: is this the exact thing I need in my life? I do not understand anything! There is changed in the third year’s study when I started to study digital design. For the first time in my life, when I studied disjunction and conjunction, I realized what it is and how it works. I got enlightenment in my head what is electronics. Unfortunately, the level of knowledge in my technical school, as in Ukraine in general, was very low. But the main thing that the technical school gave me was not knowledge, no, exactly interest in electronics! I decided that this was what I wanted to do in my life, and then it was more important than knowledge. By the time I graduated, I had decided that I would be developing processors, but I still had no idea how they work. So I had to find a place where I could learn that.

Fortunately, in the bottomless ocean of low-quality education in Ukraine there was a small island, which was the exact place of high-quality education. Of course, I am talking about KPI. And despite some problems, both now and before, I still consider KPI the best university in Ukraine and I want to make it even better. The department, which I joined, I consider the best department of electronics in Ukraine. Now I will not go into details, maybe in the future, I will tell in more detail about studying at my department. Here I finally learned electronics and understood how processors work.

While living in the KPI dormitory, I was lucky enough to live in the same room with Oleksandr, the person who influenced my future life. When I was in my second year’s study, he found information about the KPI dual degree program with KIST and flew there to study for a year and a half. Thanks to him, I learned a lot about Korea itself, its life, and about science there. I also decided to try my hand and get there on a dual degree program. When choosing a laboratory, I could not choose for a long time, but as a result, I chose the Center for Quantum Information, where I am now. Unlike the main campus, where almost all the centers and laboratories are located in Seoul, my center is in Suwon.

While studying for a master's degree, there were some misunderstandings, because I am an electronics engineer, but in the laboratory mainly study quantum physics. As a result, I focused on the post-processing step in QKD systems. I have already completed my master's degree at KPI and I am going to enter to PhD degree. But while in the lab, I had plenty of time to reconsider my plans for the future. At one point, I realized that electronics has been studied in great detail in contrast to quantum computing, so I decided to change the direction of PhD degree to quantum computing. In the future, I will write about my progress in this direction.

Finally, a little bit more about myself:

- I am interested in MIPS processors;

- I use Linux and support Open-Source;

- I believe that the future will follow for quantum programmers;

- I want to make Ukraine an advanced scientific country with its capital in Kryvyi Rih.
