I'm looking at the IKEA Brimnes line (I DON'T want a headboard, but I need that underbed storage!), but haven't picked a mattress yet. I'll be coming from a much older than I care to admit no name king size mattress down to a queen size. Does anyone have this bed and/or an IKEA mattress in general? Can you make any suggestions on the mattress? It's been a very, very long time since I bed shopped, so I wanna do it right and not suffer long, sleepless nights of buyer's regret! Our 2015 mattress satisfaction survey forms part of our annual reliability survey, which asks thousands of members about the products they own, including TVs, fridges, vacuum cleaners, robot vacuum cleaners, steam mops, juicers, smartphones, washing machines and hot water systems. In April and May 2015, we asked more than 5000 people who'd bought a new mattress to tell us: when they'd bought it the mattress brand and type (such as inner-spring, latex, memory foam) what the pillow top is made from (if applicable) how much they spent on the mattress how they would rate the mattress on a seven-point scale from "excellent" to "terrible" (categories are weighted to calculate the satisfaction score)
whether they experienced any major or minor problems with the mattress and if so, what were the main issues? Tempur and Madison owners are more satisfied than owners of other brands. Out of all mattresses, 49% have a pillow-top, which is the additional padding sewn onto the top of the mattress. The most popular types of pillow tops are cotton, memory foam, wool and latex. When asked about mattress types, inner-spring was overwhelmingly popular. What type of mattress do you have? Other foam (eg polyurethane) In the first eight years of ownership, only 4% of mattress owners reported a major problem and only 16% had any problem at all. Of those with problems, the most common complaint was sinking and sagging (59%).
Other complaints include back pain and being hot (memory foam owners were less likely to complain of sagging, but were more likely to have complaints about being hot). Is it worth paying more for a mattress? People who spend less than $500 on a mattress are significantly less happy with their mattress on average, but once you get over this amount we found it has very little impact on satisfaction. How much did your mattress cost? Recommendations for a Big Boy Bed Ikea Mattress Q: Ohdeedoh readers, our son is ready for a big boy bed. We're planning on getting a mattress at Ikea because they don't use the bad fire retardants and they are reasonably priced, but there are so many too choose from. Can anyone recommend a specific Ikea mattress? (Those with an image get published first.)I'l try to be as objective as a can in answering your question but the simple answer is, "No." Looking at the Sultan Hagavik model this is a lower profile marshall coil unit that contains only a single border rod and a few layers of 1.8 and 1.5 lb. density foam. They don't list the thicknesses for the foam or the gauge of the steel for the innerspring unit. Objectively this model isn't something that I would classify or ever represent as premium adult support, and certainly not appropriate for someone with a bad back. The bed will contour to your body, but not due to any advanced design. It simply lacks support. Having seen these beds in person I have a pretty good idea on the quality of construction and methods used, but I'm not writing to disparage the product.
IKEA mattresses used to come from Poland, then some were made in Mexico (recalled due to not meeting USA Flame Resistant guidelines). IBC was contracted to make some products for IKEA - not sure where this one comes from, as it's not listed on the web site. You can do so much better from a major brand with better foams, a more advanced innerspring and much better construction. and look under the BEDUCATION section for some really good objective information that will help you select a mattress.The IKEA mattresses I’ve had were decent but whether or not ones under $300 is worth the money depends on how rested you are over time when you sleep in them. For me, I was a broke college student so anything cheap was good enough for me and no way would I buy a used mattress. However, I found that there are much better mattresses for that price budget.A good mattress is one of the most important things you can buy and since you have a bad back, it’s even more important. If you are going to buy one of the cheaper IKEA mattresses for whatever reason, you can buy one of those mattress toppers that can increase the level of comfort for your mattress.
Although, with better mattresses for around the same price range out there, you might as well just buy one of those.Personally, I’d stay away from IKEA when it comes to low price point mattresses but most of their other stuff is great such as sectional sofas, desks, and bed sheets. Those laundry hamper things they sell for under $10 is also awesome. Had mine for over 8 years.I would avoid it. We had a temporary move for work (2 year relo) and needed to get a mattress for our apartment. Bought the sultan queen and box spring. Was fine at first, but after about 18 months of two (not overweight) adults sleeping on it, it got some warping and flat spots, I had also discovered when I moved it that several of the wooden parts of the box spring (just a bunch of slats really) had broken in half. We ended up just throwing them in the dumpster. (Goodwill won’t even take this broken flimsy crap). I think these mattresses must be made for an 8 year old, 80 pound child. I think I spent about 375 on the set.
