Ever wonder what those kooky IKEA product names mean? These Västerön stools are named after a tiny island in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland. This table is called Äpplarö. It's a piece of outdoor furniture, so it's also named after a Scandinavian island. The 'Billy' bookcase, beloved of university students and 20-something apartment dwellers, is named after an IKEA employee. Claus Jorstad of Alta, Norway won't soon forget the name of this IKEA stool. It's called 'Marius' and back in September 2016 Jorstad got his testicle caught in one of the holes. Pillowcases, bedsheets and duvet covers are named after plants and flowers. Häxört, shown here, is a type of aromatic herb. IKEA has recently produced a bicycle. Its name, 'Sladda', roughly translates to 'skid' in Swedish Rugs are named after cities and towns. Ådum, for example, is a small village in western Denmark... as well as being a high-pile area rug.
