HW
Dmitry VeriutinOn average, I spend 5-6 hours of my day till 9 pm at work conducting my scientific research. I should also work at home writing a literature review for my coursework. That’s the reason why I don’t have enough time for all my desired hobbies.
In particular, I can’t afford myself to attend the dance and vocal lessons, as I’ve wanted for a long time. They are both far away from my work and home.
I only have time for watching Youtube videos and studying English after work.
I strive to attend meetings with my friends when I am at university and sometimes invite them to visit me in my dorm on weekends. I assume that is more than enough for close communication.
I believe my work-life balance is okay, but I would like to devote more time to leisure activities in the evenings.
I see only one way to reach it - work more efficiently and spend less time on things. I suppose it is possible in science because scientists don’t work a mandatory 9-5 job. Only the result is paid; from this point of view, science is a freelance job.
For those who want to improve their work-life balance, I could give only one advice: don’t get stuck at work too much. Life is diverse and there is no reason to ignore it. Besides, good relax and doing what you like might help you work better.
