Full Size Mattress & Box Spring Pricing: Mattress & Box Spring Orthopedic Premier Super Pillow TopFull size beds (a.k.a., double beds) are wider than twin size beds (a.k.a., single beds), but both are the same length. Twin beds are useful and affordable for young single people, but full beds are more likely to function adequately for couples. Full Bed versus Twin Bed comparison chart Full BedTwin BedWidth 54 inches (137 cm) 39 inches (99 cm) 75 inches (191 cm) A twin bed is too narrow for two adults to sleep on it. Twin beds are cheaper than full beds, but not by much usually. Good for children, teens, and single adults. Not good for couples at all. 30% of all mattress purchases

Contents: Full vs Twin Size Bed Both full beds and twin beds are 75 inches (191 cm) long. They differ when it comes to width, however. At 54 inches (137 cm) wide, a full size bed is nearly as wide as a queen size bed. Twin beds are much narrower, measuring a mere 39 inches (99 cm) across. This video provides information on all bed sizes, including twin, full, queen, and king: Both full and twin beds have extra-long, or XL, versions, which add an extra five inches (13 cm) to the bed's length. At 80 inches (203 cm), this makes these versions of full and twin size beds as long as king and queen size beds. Comparison of bed sizes available in the U.S. In the U.S., all mattresses and beds manufactured and sold by IKEA are a half-inch to inch (1.3 cm to 2.5 cm) shorter than is standard. Buying a twin or full size mattress, bed, or box-spring from IKEA more or less locks the buyer into buying IKEA's bed products only. Twin beds are ideal for children and are often found in bunk beds.

Twin size beds are also good for teenagers, college or university students, and those who want a small bed for a small room. These beds are affordable and very easy to move, making them somewhat more flexible than other bedding options, which can be expensive and burdensome. However, few adults will want a twin size bed for their main, personal bed. A twin bed is only meant for one person and will be impractical and uncomfortable for most adults to share with a partner. Though more expensive, a full size bed is more likely to "grow" with an individual and can even function adequately for some couples, allowing each person 27 inches (68.6 cm) of personal space. In the long run, most couples will likely want a more spacious queen, king, or California king size bed, though. Comparable full size and twin size mattresses and bed frames are often similarly priced, with usually only around $50 separating them. Other cost variations result from material differences (e.g., whether a mattress has a Eurotop or pillowtop or whether a bed frame is made from hardwood or softwood).

One noticeable difference between the two bed sizes is that full size sheets often cost twice as much as twin size sheets, but this is a relatively minor cost overall. In at least one (older) survey, twin size beds were found to be the second most popular bed size in the U.S., surpassed only by queen size beds. Full beds were moderately less popular at the time of the survey. Full Bed Queen Bed "Full vs Twin Size Bed." Buyer's Guide: Standard Bed Sizes/Meaurements The actual size of your bedding may vary depending on the manufacturer of your mattress set.  That being said, here are the standard measurements for bed sizes. Twin: 38" x 75" Twin XL: 38" x 80" Three-Quarter: 48" x 75" Full: 53" x 75" Queen: 60" x 80" King: 76" x 80" California King: 72" x 84"It is important that you MEASURE YOUR BOX SPRING to make sure you order the correct size bed frame. Many of our bed frames are designed to fit one size only. (We do have a few bed frames that fits twin, full, queen, and king, but those are exceptions, not the rule.)

Measure your Box Spring MEASURING YOUR BOX SPRING IS especially critical when you are ordering KING or CALIFORNIA KING size. There IS a difference, and the two sizes are often confused, even by people who sell furniture and bedding. If a salesperson tells you that he is selling you a KING size bed frame or mattress set, DO NOT take his word for it. We cannot stress enough how important it is to MEASURE YOUR BOX SPRING! If you have a KING size box spring, it will be approximately 76" wide by 80" long. If you have a CALIFORNIA KING, your box spring will be approximately 72" wide by 84" long. We recommend measuring your box spring, rather than the mattress, because the box spring is the part that fits into the bed frame. What's Going On with Today's Mattress Measurements? To further complicate matters, mattress manufacturers have begun skimp on the the standard sizes of box springs and foundations in the last few years. We've seen full size box springs measuring as little as 52 inches wide and 74 inches long.

Queen foundations or box springs are usually around 59 inches wide by 78 inches long, not the longtime standard of 60 inches wide X 80 inches long. How Have Bed Frame Manufacturers Responded? Strangely, they've responded to the width problem, but not the length problem. Many of our bed frame suppliers send us full size bed frames that will not go any wider than 53 inches. This is a big problem when we have a customer who has an old box spring. Older box springs (from the 1970s and even 1980s) measure 54 inches wide, while todays newer foundations and box springs measure only 52 - 53 inches. Many of our bed frames won't work with older foundations. Bed rail manufacturers like Leggett and Platt, have not gotten the memo about the ever-shrinking bedding. As queen box springs shrink in length, queen bed rails are still 82 inches long, much to the frustration of many customers (and us!). It leaves too much space at the end of the bed. The simple solution would be for mattress manufacturers to stop skimping on sizes, but that is unlikely to happen.

The bed frame manufacturers could make the frames to suit the proper sizes. A little communication would help, but it has been left to sellers like us to explain these differences to our customers. Why don't you accept returns on bed frames, bed rails and bed supports?Bed frames, bed rails, and bed supports are very large, bulky items that are extremely costly to ship. Due to their size, shipments of bed frames and bed rails are always subject to oversize charges, making the shipping costs even greater. It is very expensive for us to ship to you and expensive for you to ship back to us. Because we are a small company (only five full-time employees), we cannot absorb all those costs. For these reasons, we do not allow returns or exchanges on our large, bulky items. Once an item has shipped, your order cannot be cancelled or returned or exchanged. Please do not refuse an item when you receive the package to try to return the item.

We will NOT accept it back and we will not issue a refund. The main reason customers want to return an item is because of accidentally ordering the wrong size.
