Homework

Homework

Karl-Silver Kööp

It was October 13th, 2016. Me and a bunch of my friends were getting ready to go to an old abandoned building complex in our village. There was an old hatchery and a warehouse like building with offices in one part of it. We used to go there to play tag. Usually we had around 10-15 people going there and we played after school, meaning there was little time to do homework. Especially my russian homework, since I hated it.

We had been playing there for 3 weeks now, almost every day. It wasn’t exactly legal to be there, but we had a lot of fun and weren’t breaking anything so we didn’t really care. About a couple of days ago we started noticing stuff moving around, and sounds coming from nearby buildings. Although everyone swore they had nothing to do with it, we decided to go home for that day.

Having not been there for 4 days, we thought we should go and check the place out again. It was quiet, no more sounds coming from the other buildings, no more sounds of someone moving something. We started to play tag again, we played for about an hour before something terrifying happened, what sounded like a banshee screaming, but looked like our scary russian teacher was rushing towards us, the high pitched scream forced everyone down to their knees. I couldn’t take it anymore, I curled up into a ball and just layed on the concrete floor, waiting for it to stop. Though it never seemed to do so, but when it finally did I felt a stabbing pain on my left arm. I looked down and there was my tomorrow’s russian homework scratched into it.

After that night I did something I never thought I’d have to do. I vowed to myself never to leave my homework undone again.
