History
The project was proposed by Wei Dai in 1998 and independently developed by Laszlo Hanyecz in 2003. https://allportalonline.com/ The first known working implementation was written by Theodoros Angelakos in 2005. The bitcoin blockchain software is named after the system created by Nakamoto. The use of bitcoin in creating such a system was advocated for in the 2008 white paper by Nakamoto.
An early paper on the theory behind bitcoin, Proof of Work, was published in 2004 by Clifford Adamson. In October 2008, a paper was submitted to the physics and astronomy section of the American Physical Society by Hal Finney, which received media attention with regard to Finney's dismissal from his position at the Mt. Gox exchange. The paper's publication led many commentators to express concerns that bitcoin was not technologically sound.[200][201][202] Finney countered these criticisms in a blog post with Reasons to doubt the solvency of Mt. Gox.[203]
In January 2009, the bitcoin network came under large DDoS ("distributed denial-of-service") attack, the largest such attack prior to the 2012 MasterCard and Visa debit card security breach.
