In search of the perfect highchair, you quickly learn that it does not exist. But this one is close. We have the Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster - Brown/Tan and the Graco SimpleSwitch Highchair and Booster, Pasadena and my favorite of the three is still the Healthy Care Booster.

Love the tiny tray on that one! All three of my chairs can be traveled with and can be used at the regular table. This chair is a close second to the Healthy Care Booster, with the Graco dead last because I hate the cushion.Pros*It coverts to a booster, it (mostly) works when pushed up to my table because we have a huge lip on our table that always gets in the way.*The tray can be moved back and forth with ONE HAND.*It's compact.*It's super easy to assemble.*The harness is functional and the top part of the harness is removed with the top part of the chair when you convert to a booster, so you are left with the lower harness (thank you, Fisher Price, my son hates to be harnessed while eating so this is great).*The tray is a nice size. Won't fit in my dishwasher, but none of them do.*Adjustable height.*Reclines, which is a super handy function for kids with reflux. We used to feed our baby in his bouncy seat because he had to be fed upright and remain so for 30 minutes after a feed.*Attaches to chairs nicely.*Portable.Cons*What's with the back "handle" thing, if that's what it is?

Is it there because the chair reclines?*The stupid cushion! Why, oh why, do we need a cushion for our highchairs? Do people realize what goes on in highchairs? My son is messy. He makes a mess every time. He's getting better, but now we have introduced a spoon so we're back to square one. Yes, the cushion wipes clean. We still have to wash it. Stupid, in my opinion, but most of them have it. My son spends 20 minutes in the chair at a time, tops. He does not need a cushion. Oh, how I covet the days where highchairs were simple wood or padded (wipe clean) vinyl!Overall, this is a solid chair at a great price point. I wouldn't pick this design, but some of the other cushions are cuter (again with the cushions!) and it was free, so beggars can't be choosers. The hard plastic seat shape is suited to hold the frame of your baby, but it is not the most comfortable material. That's why high chairs come with a soft padded seat cover. If your cover is getting old and worn from use, you can easily make your own using the old one as a pattern. By making your own seat cover, you can design the cover using exactly the fabric you want. Fold the fabric in half with the right sides facing away from each other and lay it out on a table. Fold the old seat cover in half and place it on top of the fabric along the folded edge.Trace around the folded seat cover onto the fabric using a pencil. Follow the edges carefully so you copy the exact shape of the seat.Add ¼ inch all around the traced shape on the fabric and cut the fabric out carefully using the sewing shears.

Cut out the same shape from the quilt batting.Lay the fabric on top of the batting with the right sides facing away from each other. Sew the pieces together at ¼ inch away from the edges with the sewing machine.Copy the shape of the straps or pocket on the old seat cover onto the wrong side of another piece of fabric. The strap or pocket is the means of securing the seat cover onto the high chair.Sew the fabric and batting together along the seams and folds of the old seat cover. The seams will allow the new cover to fold and shape to the high chair seat.Cut out the straps or pocket from the fabric and sew them onto the batting side of the new seat cover. Remove the strap holes in the new seat cover according to the old cover holes.Sew the bias tape around the entire edge of the new seat cover to cover the raw edges. Cover the raw edges of the strap holes in the same way.Press the folds on the cover with the iron to help the new cover take its shape better. Fit the cover into the high chair and pass the straps through the holes.
