Israel Danziger, director general of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, said that there are currently 188 dangerous plants for air pollution in the country.

He admitted that so far there has not been enough supervision and enforcement in the matter, and when he took office about three months ago he decided to focus on them. According to him, regional supervision units will be established with the addition of manpower, surprise audits have been intensified, computer systems have been updated, and every month these units are required to submit a report on supervision and surprise audits to the CEO.

Danziger promised that in the coming years, NIS 330 million will be devoted to improving pollution in Haifa Bay, including raising the bar required for factories.

Shuli Nezer, the ministry's deputy director general, added that the law regarding the licensing of the law for factories at risk of pollution will be updated, and regulations regarding gas stations will be approved soon.
