Op fietsvakantie en bij een trektocht met rugzak is het schipperen met gewicht en pakvolume. Wat je meeneemt moet min of meer in je tas(sen) passen en uiteindelijk zal het allemaal ook mee bergop zoeken. Grote stoelen meeslepen is geen optie. In het verleden was het dan maar zitten op een zitmatje, later kwam er dan de mogelijkheid je slaapmat om te bouwen tot stoel zoals met de chairkits van ThermaRest en Exped. Niet ideaal je moet dan ’s avond weer je stoel tot slaapplek ombouwen en ’s ochtends voor de eerste koffie weer. Helinox ontkettende met zijn lichtgewicht stoelen een kleine revolutie. Lichtgewicht en compact op te vouwen. Wellicht nog niet klein genoeg voor in de rugzak, maar op de fiets wordt meenemen erg verleidelijk Helinox brengt nu de Zero op de markt. De zero die met zijn 490 gram minder weegt dan een halve kilo (zonder hoes) en dus lichter is dan de ground chair maar wel meer zithoogte. Op dit moment is er nog geen hands-on ervaring met de Chair Zero. Aangezien de constructie verder lijkt op de Chair one verwachten we hetzelfde gebruik en comfort zoals we ook van die stoel kennen.
De zithoogte is met 28 centimeter wel lager dan de chair one ( 34 centimeter ) maar hoger dan de ground chair ( 22 centimeter) Een bekend probleem van de Chair one is dat de pootjes wegzakken in zachte grond, iets waar je bij de ground chair eigenlijk geen last van hebt. Als oplossing hiervoor heeft Helinox speciale ballen die je op de stoelpoten zet of een speciale grondmat. Voegt wel weer extra gewicht en volume toe aan je bagage. De stoelen zijn ook prima geschikt om onderweg uit de fietstas (of kofferbak van de auto) te halen om even lekker te zitten als er geen bankje te vinden is. Which size ground sheet works with this chair? The Helinox Camp Chair can only use the large size Groundsheet from Helinox. I'm interested in this chair because of its weight capacity (you don't want to know).
