Brewster Conservation Trust Office is located at the Hay Conservation Center, 36 Red Top Rd, Brewster, Ma.Der Hardoy Chair / Butterfly Chair Der Hardoy Chair wurde 1938 in einem Architekturbüro in Buenos Aires entwickelt. Nach seiner Form ist der Stuhl auch als Butterfly Chair bekannt. Die auch oft angetroffene Bezeichnung BKF Chair setzt sich zusammen aus den Anfangsbuchstaben der Namen der drei am Entwurf beteiligten Architekten Antonio Bonet (1913-1975), Juan Kurchan (1913-1975) und Jorge Ferrari-Hardoy (1914-1977). Ferrari-Hardoy ist später von Bonet und Kurchan als eigentlicher Urheber des Stuhls anerkannt worden. Alle drei hatten 1937 im Architekturbüro Le Corbusiers in Paris gearbeitet und waren in Argentinien als Stadtplaner tätig. Ein Stuhl für alle Lagen Der Hardoy Chair ist ein bedingt allwettertauglicher Freilandstuhl und auch durch seine Stapelbarkeit gut für draußen geeignet.
Das Gestell ist in Stahl oder rostfreiem Edelstahl erhältlich, die Bezüge gibt es in aus Stoff oder aus Leder, wobei die Textilbezüge waschbar sind. Durch seine einfache stabile Konstruktion, die niedrige Sitzhöhe von 37 Zentimeter und die offene Form hat der Hardoy Chair viel von einer Hängematte an sich und ist ein ideales Sitzmöbel zum entspannten Sitzen, Sinniere, Lesen und Träumen. Der Hardoy Chair gewann 1940 prompt einen argentinischen Designpreis und wurde danach schnell in den USA bekannt, wo er in die ständige Ausstellung des Museum of Modern Art in New York aufgenommen wurde – ein Ritterschlag für jedes Kunstobjekt. Knoll und die Kopien des Hardoy Chair Nach dem Krieg übernahm die Firma Knoll die Produktion. Die immense Beliebtheit des Hardoy Chair führte zu einer Flut von Kopien, gegen die Knoll schließlich 1951 gerichtlich vorging. Knoll verlor den Prozess um das Urheberrecht am Hardoy Chair: Das Gericht entschied, dass der Stuhl direkt auf einem Faltstuhl-Patent des englischen Erfinders Joseph Fenby von 1877 beruhte, und gab damit den Hardoy Chair praktisch zum Kopieren frei.
