The only downside is that it does not appear to swivel, which could pose a problem when it's time to face Lance Armstrong and the Calicos, and I strain my neck trying to whip around for the big reveal of my eeeevil visage. (For inquiring minds, my evil visage features a hard, stoic jawline, penetrating black eyes, and an exposed 3XL brain housed in bulletproof, diamond-encrusted glass.) Harold Sangouard, through his brand Harow, has designed this ornate crystallized skull overtaking an armchair. Molded resin tops its steel internal frame, with a black gloss finish and velvet seat coverings capping the chair's luxuriously maleficent aesthetic.

It almost looks like what would happen if someone mentally unstable or haunted by a demon hallucinated while staring at a La-Z-Boy. All skull pieces are numbered, which leads me to believe there aren't many of them. And the armchair's purchase price is available only upon request, which leads me to believe it costs a million dollars, or 5 human souls. In addition to reminding me of my nightmares, Sangouard's skull armchair also reminds me of Maximo Riera's fantastic Animal Chair collection. The Sputnik chair is directly inspired from the satellite of the same name. Simple, effective and timeless were the main criteria for this piece. The Sputnik chair is voluntarily rude in its aspect and goes straight to the point. Made out of hand-cast aluminum and steel, the chair demonstrates how basic materials can be used with elegance. The momentum is what is critical. It takes a keen eye and a strong design sense to outfit a supervillain's lair.

You can't just buy your furniture at IKEA. It needs to be opulent, but also menacing. That's where French design firm Harow comes in with its 24-karat gold-plated skull armchair. It's coated with bling. It's perfect for your hidden island headquarters.Harow says the chair's function is to "establish its domination." The chair is designed with a faceted look, like it was carved out of gold crystal. It has gaping eyes on the back and what looks to be a very cushy black velvet seating area in the front. It's made from reinforced fiberglass over a steel frame and then coated in 24-karat gold that your minions will have to constantly polish to get the fingerprints off.Luxury Launches reports that the chair comes with a substantial $500,000 (about £347,000, AU$717,000) price tag.Harow first introduced an all black version of the skull chair a few years ago, but the gold-plated edition is a real stunner, speaking to both opulence and a slight bent toward insanity. There are many supervillains who would appreciate this piece of furniture, including almost any main baddie from the James Bond universe.

The chair isn't the first unusual object to be coated in gold and sold to people with a lot of money and likely a strong sense of humor. Retailer Kay Jewelers offered up a very expensive gold-and-diamond BB-8 droid from Star Wars last year, just prior to the opening of "The Force Awakens." We also saw a gold-plated men's racing bike in 2014 that cost nearly as much as the skull chair. This presents an interesting dilemma. Are you the kind of supervillain who sits back and commands your hirelings on your way to foiling your superhero nemesis, or are you the kind of supervillain who takes an active interest in your own health? Blofelds should buy the chair. Banes may prefer the bike. At the top of our list is a mega mansion, naturally, which we'd fill with all manner of unique furnishings, including this gold-plated chair handmade by Harow in Paris. From the front, the chair is stylish but not super noteworthy — it combines a mid-century-inspired black velvet seat with intricately carved legs. The back of the chair is an entirely different, albeit slightly macabre, story, however, in which a highly detailed skull is revealed. The glistening face is made of  24-carat-gold plating that brings the price tag up to a whopping $500,000. (Still just a tiny fraction of our $1 billion+ jackpot.) If  you prefer to flaunt your newfound riches — or your macabre tastes — in a more subtle manner, the chair also comes in jet black, a nice accompaniment to the pastel-hued animal skeleton candles we told you about last week.
