I am looking to plan my own 2014 wedding in Lake Como without the help of a wedding planner and would really appreciate your help with the following: Civil Ceremony Venue - Any recommendations? Ideally we would like something intimate with beautiful views of the lake and with easy access via boat or car. (excluding the Bride and Groom there will only be 10 people attending our wedding). What was the cost for the ceremony, venue hire, officiant & translator and where there any town hall fees? How would I go about organizing them myself?

Reception Venue - We are wanting to go A la carte rather than choosing from a wedding menu. Can anyone recommend a traditional Italian restaurant with beautiful views of the lake? Can the restaurants provide a 'wedding cake' or would this need to be arranged separately? Boat trip - We like the idea of a champagne cruise round the lake after the ceremony with our guests pick up point would be ceremony venue and drop off ideally would be near reception venue lasting approximation 1.5 hr. Approximate costs? Florist - We only need a bridal bouquet, 5 buttonholes and table decoration at the reception venue. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced florist? Would they liaise with the reception venue to decorate the table? Musician - For ceremony only we would like a violinist. Do you need to buy a music licence (SIAE)? Hair/ Makeup - Having contacted a wedding planner I am aware the bridal hair & makeup package can be rather costly... Can anyone recommend individual hairdressers and a mobile make up artist?

How much is a realistic budget for this? would the hairdresser travel to hotel to do hair for up-to 5 women including the bride? Photographer - We only want photos taken at our ceremony approximately 1.5 hour. Is anyone able to recommend a reasonably priced photographer? What should we expect to get in return? I know you would like to plan it yourself but check out Sally from wedding box lake Como. She is helping us plan our wedding and she has been great from the get go. It really isn't as expensive as you think and she can help you with any request.

As she is English there is no language barrier and she has talked us through all the complex paperwork step by step. It's definitely worth checking out. I can also recommend sally from the wedding box, she just arranged my friends wedding in Lake Como, stunning!! Also I am a freelance make-up artist, I go abroad for weddings, the locals can be quite costly! Check out my website.... Please contact me for a quote or more info. I am also planning my own 2014 wedding on lake como with no problems at all so far! Wedding planners I looked at were quoting us approx €2,000 and helped with venue & paperwork but we've had no problem conversing with venues and am told by the town hall the paperwork is minimal & not at much as the planners tell you! If you're interested for any info or help please get in touch & we can wedding chat! Always useful to know someone else going through the same! I am getting married at Lake Como next year and I am using a wedding planner, however also trying to do bits myself or at least research costs as some the costs for things such as flowers and hair have seemed to be exceptionally high!

Is anyone having live music at the ceremony and have you found anyone or do you know of approx. costs? I've been trying to find info online, but it's proving really difficult. Also, my planner has quoted €900 to transfer guests from Grand Hotel Tremezzo to Villa del Balbianello and back - this seems very expensive as there's no cruising around the lake involved and only 30 guests. Has anyone else received any quotes for boat hire? I've been getting boat hire prices but they are high. My dad has found someone to take a boat of ten people for €80 and is currently looking to see if they have more boats as our figure is about the same. I'll let you know if he hears anything as ive not had much luck. If not, we're looking at getting the ferry as it runs regularly and buying everyone a day ticket (approx £15) is much cheaper and we think would be quite good fun! We've not looked into bands yet but got a hairdresser to do my hair for £100 instead of €500 which has been the biggest success of my day!

Yes, I've been quoted €300 for a boat for 10 people - it was €180 a few months ago, so I'm trying to find out why it's gone up so much when it's for the same date! I'd be interested to hear what you find out thanks. Otherwise the ferry for everyone may be an option! I've been quoted €220 for my hair and €120 for bridesmaids - I have 5 bridesmaids, so I've now decided to just curl their hair and buy decorations as we can do that ourselves. Well done on finding the hairdresser! I should hopefully have some costs from the planner in the next few weeks for musicians for the ceremony and a DJ for the party.
