The resulting waste is loaded into a lorry and is officially known as Road Planings although many refer to them as Road Scalpings or Road Scrapings. Road Planings are not suitable as backfill for drainage trenches due to the high fines content and care must be taken when sourcing them as older tarmac surfaces which have been deep planed may contain tars. The use of Road Planings is generally considered environmentally sound as Bitumen is a natural substance. Using them also reduces pressure on quarried aggregate stocks. Unfortunately the days of being to obtain Road Scalpings for free have gone as the pressure of the recession on local authorites has resulted in very little resurfacing work be carried out and thus Road Planings are not as abundant as they once were. Planings are ungraded and thus may contain larger lumps. Ideal for: Hard-standings, haul roads, building sub-bases, path/road/highway/driveway/patio sub-bases, farm tracks. Deliveries of loose materials or orders of over 10 Bulk Bags, Pallets or Crates will be delivered according to arrangements made with the customer via a bespoke quotation. This schedule does not apply during bank holidays. How Will My Order Be Delivered? Bulk Bags: Orders of between 1 – 9 Bulk Bags will automatically be delivered using a Rigid Lorry with Tail Lift and Pallet Trolley and can be purchased instantly through our website. Please be aware this method of delivery can only be unloaded on tarmac, concrete or block paving and not gravel or grass under any circumstances (see video here). Larger orders of 10 Bulk Bags or more may be delivered by Rigid Lorry or Articulated Lorry equipped with either a HIAB Crane or Mounted Forklift for unloading depending on access restrictions.
Orders of 10 Bulk Bags or more will require a bespoke quote so we can apply any discounts available to you. Orders of 10 Pallets or more will require a bespoke quote so we can apply any discounts available to you. Loose Tonnes / 8 Wheeler Loads: The minimum order for a loose delivery is 10 tonnes.
