At our home we use beds (on the floor) that are pushed together for ample, comfortable, safe sleeping space (first photo below). Like many others, we've never used a crib. However, if you already have a crib that you'd like to make use of, turning it into a co-sleeper is a very useful idea.

Like many national companies, Englander licenses use of its name to different manufacturing plants throughout the country. Since the mid-80s when we first began dealing with “Englander,” our local manufacturing plant has been Tualatin Sleep Products in Tualatin, Oregon. The national “Englander” organization has been very weak, with each franchised plant pretty much building whatever mattress styles they wanted, with little consistency nationwide. Our Tualatin Sleep Products plant builds more than 800 different mattress styles with many dozens of those being latex or part latex. The Tualatin-made mattresses we sell at Bedrooms & More are NOT available through any other plant or dealers. How other plants work with dealers or customers is not standardized throughout the country. At our store, we’ve carried mattresses by Englander, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, Serta, Simmons, Kingsdown, Restonic, King Koil, Springcraft, Springwall, Natura, OMI, Tempurpedic, Select Comfort, Boyd, and Somma.
I have yet to find a perfect product. There are pluses and minuses to all. Some of these brands we found to be unacceptable for various reasons and we took them off our sales floor. Englander, of all the brands mentioned, we’ve found to be the most recommended by our customers. We’ve found the manufacturing company (Tualatin Sleep Products) to be most responsive to warranty and comfort concerns. However, a quick Google search reveals that not all customers have such good experiences with either their plants and/or dealer. No, of course not. As I said, we’ve yet to find a perfect product.
