Skip to main content A durable, compact-when-folded highchair that's comfy and looks good. Compact when folded, already assembled when it arrives, six different heights, three recline positions, easy to wipe down Light grey straps get marked quickly and are hard to clean, crumbs can get stuck in seat pad stitching Compare deals from top retailers The Graco Contempo highchair looks good, can be easily stored and has practical, easy-to-use features. When my older daughter, Mia, was ready for a highchair I bought a similar Graco one to the Contempo and was pretty thrilled with it. With my next daughter, Lily, I thought I’d be clever and buy a super bargain highchair. Little did I know Lily has a great future as an escape artist and the lack of a secure 5-point harness led to a few heart-in-mouth moments. So when the brand new Graco Contempo arrived on my doorstep I couldn’t believe my luck. I opened the box to find it was already assembled - all I had to do was click on the lockable castors.

This version of the Contempo features a simple, but not girly, blue and grey butterfly design. It’s suitable from 6 months to 36 months. Graco have been making baby products since 1955 and it shows. The Contempo is a really well thought-out highchair. It’s stylish enough for a contemporary home but not flimsy or fashion-led, and at £89.99 it’s excellent value for money. It really delivers on its promise to do things ‘one-handed’ - the tray really does go on with one hand, you really can recline the seat, with your baby in it, with one hand. The 6-position height adjustment is great, as I can either feed at the table or sitting at the sofa - something I did a lot when Mia was first using a highchair.Lily, 13 months, finds the highchair very comfortable. One big advantage of the washable squishy seat pad, secure harness and 3-position recline is that after lunch, nappers can have a snooze without having to be moved from the highchair.I’m a big fan of how easy it is to clean.

The Graco Contempo has a washable seat pad, which just wipes down and in serious food emergencies can be removed and cleaned. The double trays mean you can let your baby splatter their main course everywhere, whip off the top tray and then have another one underneath for them to decorate with pudding. The Graco Contempo folds down almost flat - we can tuck it behind our dining room table, which means no cluttered up space. What to watch out for I’m a big fan of this highchair but there’s a few niggles to watch out for. One of my biggest bugbears - and it was the same with my old Graco highchair - is that they’ve chosen pale grey for the straps. The material seems to absorb food colours and so the straps get stains. I’ve found it hard to keep them looking as clean as the rest of the highchair. You’ve also got to watch out for stray food slipping into the stitching in the seat pad.Although the Graco Contempo is very compact when folded it does have quite a big footprint when in use.

If you have a very small feeding space you need to consider this. On a final point, it does stand sturdy on its feet when folded but is quite heavy and can be easily tipped by a toddling baby, so be careful where you store it when not in use. Who is the Graco Contempo highchair best for? Parents looking for a durable, value for money option that can be folded out of sight If you’re looking for a highchair that’s made to last but can be stored away after mealtimes then the Graco Contempo is a great choice. Clever features, such as 6-point height adjustment and a reclining seat, work well. Make sure you’ve got enough floor space to use it when unfolded.10 Best Birthday Gifts for Every Kind of Kid Skip the high chair and try a booster seat that brings your baby right up to the table for mealtime.
