Google: how it all began

In 1995, Larry Page was going to go to magistracy at Stanford University. The student who was supposed to show Larry University was Sergey Brin.

According to some reports, on the day of acquaintance they disagree on almost all issues, but a year later they started working on a project - the search engine "Backrub". It was based on the idea that the importance of an individual web page is higher the more pages it is referenced.

Soon, "Backrub" was renamed to "Google". This name is a reference to the number of "googles" - a unit with a hundred zeros. It symbolizes the desire of creators to organize all the information on the Internet and provide access to it.

In just a couple of years, "Google" has attracted the attention not only of the scientific community, but also of Silicon Valley investors. In August 1998, co-founder of Sun Microsystems Andy Bechtolsheim wrote a check to Larry and Sergei for $100,000. "Google Inc." was founded on this money.

The first server was made of Lego's details, and the first doodle (1998) informed website visitors that all Google employees took the day off and left for the Burning Man festival.

Revolution

The company launched "Google News" in 2002, "Gmail" in 2004, "Google Maps" in 2005, "Google Chrome" in 2008, and the social network known as "Google+" in 2011, in addition to many other products. In 2015, Google underwent a restructuring of divisions and personnel under the conglomerate name Alphabet. Sergey Brin became president of the newly formed parent company, while Larry Page is the CEO. His position at Google was filled with the promotion of Sundar Pichai. Collectively, Alphabet and its subsidiaries consistently rank among the top 10 most valuable companies in the world. It's often also cited among the most influential and admired companies as well.
