Genesis.

Miss Kay.

To begin takes time and effort. You have to be willing to go the extra mile. Learning is no different. A child learns through discovery. Acquiring first hand knowledge and information by actual observation. Understanding concepts as attention is paid to meaning. A training of the mind which is a slow process.

We continue to unfold the concept that is Sequence. Have fun👌

Genesis Episode Two.

Genesis: Episode Two.

English: Sequence.

Greetings,

Before beginning today's lesson, I have a few corrections to make.

This week we are dealing with the concept Sequence in general not a single subject Mathematics as stated in yesterday's lesson.

The Memory verse is Joshua 1:7 not Joshua 1:9.

We continue to focus on Observant as a character trait. Continue to encourage your child to learn new skills and knowledge. As well as challenge her observation skills.

Today we focus on Sequence in an English context. English being the most common language for communication, sequence is not far off. This is accomplished in various ways:

a) Giving directions: There is a starting point and an end point. For example; To get to Nairobi from Nakuru; First you will pass through Naivasha, Next, Kinungi and Finally, Kabete. Practice giving directions using sequence using the words: First turn left, Next turn right and Finally walk straight ahead.

b) Time lines: Sequence helps us to arrange events in the proper order. For example: 1. You go to nursery school. 2. Primary school. 3. High school. 4. University. As an activity with your child, list events she can remember & how old she was when they happened. Then ask her to arrange these events in their correct order from first to last.

c) Telling stories: Sequence helps us see the story in the correct order. For example; In the story of The Little Pigs, we are first introduced to the three little pigs, next we read of them building different houses, the big bad wolf blowing down the first two pig's houses and finally them running to the third pig's house for safety.

As an activity, encourage your child to narrate a common story using words that show sequence.

To add fun to learning sequence, turn the table as you engage in a simple game. Let your child direct you in drawing using sequence. For example: Draw first head, next ears, then eyes and finally a nose. Allow your child to have fun by asking you to her favourite pictures. As you play the game help your child improve their vocabulary by teaching simple new words. For example: Using the word round instead of circle or triangular for triangle.

Learning sequence is a fun activity. Look forward to more interesting activities as the week unfolds.

Blessings.

Miss Kay.
