Repeat it until the springs are completely unwound. Step 7 – The next step is to loosen up the torsion hardware. First, remove the bolts that secure the torsion cones to the spring bracket. Slide the torsion springs toward the cable drums and slide it more out toward the drums. Between the cones, you may notice that there is only a single bearing. The purpose is to keep the shaft from wearing with the anchor bracket. The next thing to do is to loosen up the setscrews on the cable drum so the drum will turn freely.




After which, remove the cable from the left drum and slide the latter from the bearing plate. Do the same procedure on the other side of the garage door. Step 8 – You have done everything that is needed. So what you need to do now is to replace the springs and reinstall the torsion hardware.
