The Lock Button on the Door Control The lock button on the door control may be activated. Press the button to turn this feature off. The light bulb will blink two times. This feature is designed to prompt you that the lock button is activated. When the lock button is ON the garage door opener will work from the door control but the remote controls are locked out. The most common reason for the lights to flash on the garage door opener and the door not closing is that the safety reversing sensors are misaligned or obstructed; this is a safety feature of the garage door opener. Click here for instructions for aliging the safety sensors. When properly connected and aligned, the sensor will detect an obstacle in the path of its electronic beam. If an obstruction breaks the light beam while the door is closing, the door will stop and reverse to full open position, and the opener lights will flash 10 times. Your garage door opener is equipped with a Self Diagnostic feature to help you determine what the issue is.

Based on the model of your garage door opener, your garage door opener will flash an LED next to your learn button or flash the Up and Down arrows a number of times to indicate the issue. If the opener has the up and down arrows use the table below to diagnose and resolve the issue. NOTE: The garage door can be closed by pressing and holding the door control push bar until down travel is completed.< 12 3 4 > 4,281 posts, read 8,715,143 times Originally Posted by golfgal MY GARAGE DOOR WILL GO UP, BUT WILL NOT COME DOWN. This symptom is a common problem with the safety sensors on your garage door opener. The safety sensors are the little black boxes on each end of your garage door near the floor. The red LED light on one sensor should be on solid and not flashing or flickering. If the other sensor has a green LED light, it should also be on solid. You should check to be sure the sensors are still aligned and pointing at each other, not obstructed by anything, the wires are still connected properly and that the lenses are free and clear of debris or spider webs.

I will try some new ones tomorrow if they sell them at HD or the hardware store. Hubs is positive it isn't the sensors but they aren't lighting up at all so I am pretty sure it is . The door will go down if you use the force close button on the unit itself but goes right back up as soon as you let it go. The door doesn't do anything with the wall button right now. There are actually two type wall mounted/control units. One hard wired to the unit as in maybe the same as the force close button and the other type although wall mounted, is a remote control such as in your car.

The wall unit is wired to the opener. 4,775 posts, read 8,012,407 times Originally Posted by ZippymanHubby seems to think they are lighting up--but it's just the sun shining on the lights . Picked up the sensors-$34-got everything ready to switch them out--simple, take off the wires from the old ones, hook them up to the new ones, screw into wall, except that I'm not tall enough to reach the outlet that the door opener unit is plugged into even on a ladder . I have to wait for hubby to come home. No, just the sensors. We had the wiring replaced about 5 years ago so I didn't think it was that, but I guess it was.Troubleshoot problems with your Genie garage door opener or accessories. FAQs: Troubleshooting Genie garage door opener products Troubleshoot any problems you may be having with your Genie garage door opener, including lights blinking, door reversing, remote issues and more.

Why is the Safe-T-Beam light blinking? Why does my Genie garage door reverse/open when I try closing it? Why does the Genie opener run without moving the door? Why won’t my Genie remote control work? I recently installed some LED light bulbs on my opener and noticed I lost a little range on my remote transmitter about the same time. Are the two items related? Safe-T-Beam is a government-required safety feature that must be installed in order for your Genie garage door opener to work. A flashing Safe-T-Beam LED indicator means a malfunction has occurred. First, be sure that the lenses are clean, and check for any possible obstructions or loose wires. Also, make sure that lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage-door opening and that lenses are aligned facing one another. If the LED indicator continues to flash, see your owner's manual for a list of possible causes and additional troubleshooting. The likely culprit is an obstruction in the path of the garage door.

Check for and clear any obstructions in its way. If the problem persists, check to see if the red Safe-T-Beam LED indicator is blinking. If it is, be sure that the lenses are mounted five to six inches from the floor on either side of the garage-door opening. If the Safe-T-Beam® lenses appear to be installed properly and aligned facing one another, refer to the troubleshooting section of your owner’s manual for additional causes and solutions. Your garage door may be disconnected from the opener. Check that the emergency-release cord has not been pulled. If this is the reason, you will need to reengage the carriage. The method to reengage the carriage depends on the model of garage door opener you own. See your owner's manual for more details. Be sure that the remote has been properly programmed and that fresh batteries have been installed. If you are still having trouble, refer to your owner's manual, or contact Customer Service. With the obsolescence of the basic incandescent light bulb, it has come to Genie's attention that there are certain brands or types of LED bulbs that can cause interference with the radio signals.
