You may need to consult either HomeLink, or your owners manuals if these instructions do not work for you. There are two separate phases needed to programming your vehicles built-in, HomeLink remote to work your First Phase - The vehicle must be programmed with the type of remote it will be emulating. These procedures can be found in your vehicles owners manual or you can follow the generic instructions below. Second Phase - Your garage door opener must be programmed to accept the signal transmitted from the vehicle as a new remote. What to do if your door won't CLOSE: If door won’t close, the lights on the motor unit blink, and the unit makes several loud clicking sounds, the problem is with the photo eyes. Be sure nothing is in the path of the sensors. Check for debris or cobwebs (or even stinkbugs!) on the lenses. Remove the obstruction or lightly dust off the lenses. Check the alignment of the sensors. If properly aligned, there should be a steady indicator light on each sensor. If the light on one of the sensors is off or flickering, you may need to reposition the sensor. Consult the owner’s manual for your garage door opener for instructions. If door reverses within a few inches of the floor, check for cobwebs or debris hanging from bottom of door that may be tripping the photo eyes. Wipe off bottom of door. If door touches floor, pauses and reverses, down limit may need adjusting (common during cold weather if concrete raises up or ice builds up under door.)
Consult Owner’s Manual for limit adjustments. NOTE: For security purposes, you can close the door by applying constant pressure to the wired wall button inside the garage until the door is fully closed. If door won’t close and the problem is NOT with the photo eyes, contact us. What to do if your door won't OPEN: If you have no sound or movement when you push the button for the garage door opener and nothing is lit, check for current from the outlet to the unit. If no current from the outlet, you need to contact an electrician. (First check for tripped GFI in garage and check your circuit breaker.) If door tries to open an inch or two, check to see if manual door lock is engaged. Also check for broken spring. If you have torsion type spring, gaps in between the coils indicate spring is broken. Check to be sure cables are intact. If you have a broken spring or cable, contact us for a repair. If nothing looks broken on the door itself, springs and cables are OK, pull manual disconnect to lift the door manually.
Consult Owner’s Manual for instructions on disconnecting the opener. If door opens from the inside wall button or keypad but not from the remote, check to see if radio lockout has been engaged. (With most Liftmaster/Chamberlain/Sears units, LED light on wall control will be blinking.) Push LOCK button and release - blinking should stop and remote should work. What to check if your KEYLESS ENTRY PAD is not working: Check battery and replace as needed. If numbers do not light up when you press any number, battery should be replaced. After replacing battery, you may need to reprogram—consult owner’s manual for programming instructions. If you reprogram keyless entry after replacing battery, and it still will not work, try programming in a completely different set of numbers (possible that one number has worn out and is not making contact.) If you have tried all of the above, keypad may need replacing. Instructions for programming Homelink built-in remote:
1. Hold hand-held remote near built-in remote. Hold in button on each remote until light on built-in remote flashes quickly. 2. Quickly press and release programming button on back of motor unit. (Purple, red or green on Liftmaster units from 1993-2013.) 3. Within 15 seconds, push button on built-in remote in car. Opener lights will blink and opener unit will make clicking sound to indicate programming is complete. (On some vehicles, you need to hold the button on the built-in remote for a few seconds.) Note: At step 2, press programming button just enough to make contact. If you hold in button for six seconds or longer (until indicator light beside button comes on and then goes off again), you will erase everything (all remotes and keypad) from memory and will have to reprogram. Consult vehicle owner's manual for any other instructions. and enter information about your automobile and garage door opener to find instructions specific to your vehicle.
