I would be more than happy to assist this customer if only calls were returned. As I stated in a phone conversation with the client the fan was working as designed when I left on Friday, I had to put in a screw for a blade that was missing and tighten all others as they were loose. I aligned all blades to the proper height from the ceiling and check the wiring. The customer is now claiming it is worse, when in fact it is better than the condition I found it in. She wants to have me now relocate the fan to a new location and I was more than willing to do so, however, I am not available until Wednesday July 13 in the afternoon due to previously scheduled jobs with other clients who have been waiting for some time. When I proposed this to her she began to go off on me and when I tried to respond she decided to hang up on me rather than speak to me and understand I can not drop everything to deal with her issues. I also have to note that I am the third person who has attempted to handle this fan issue, first the initial installer (who did not complete it properly), second another repair person and then me.
I am available to look at it again, however, will wait for this customer to call me back, I don't hang up on my customers, and don't appreciated that type of treatment either. As to her note regarding my fee and additional amount, a normal fan install that is not pre-wired to the area in the ceiling is $150 plus material. I am giving her a break on the fee for a total $120. Julie, I apologize for the inconvenience, was taken to hospital on April 12, emergency surgery, sedated for over 2 weeks, just now getting back home, very weak and had no access to phone. Again was not intentional, Customer wanted 2 sets of bathroom faucets removed from counter, and then re installed on new counter. Age of units over 10 years. Customer was told at the start that due to age there would be problems and recommended new fixtures. Customer wanted old installed and was told there was no guarantee that there would not be problems. I was not available due to a death in the family, and would have tried to fix the problem however the client could not wait.
Sam G. is wrong in all that he has presented above. First and foremost, Yes I have been paid, and for a 10 hour day, I arrived at 9am and left at 7pm. He neglected to state the facts which are, I explained at the beginning of the work day that the Base quote was for $200 and was for the day. Also he fails to mention that his wife, changed the scope of work during the day, having me fix a light fixture that was installed improperly by someone else who came to work for them and never returned. It was mentioned by his wife that several persons had been engaged by them and all started work and then left, most not getting paid. In addition, the closet system that was purchased for install in the master bedroom was short several pieces to complete it, I had to go to the Home Depot taking time out of the day and buy additional parts to deal with it, and yes using my account for payment. No funds were advanced for this purchase. Also, the hardware needed to install the brackets, screws etc, were not the right size and I had some in my supply to use otherwise it would have been another trip to the store.
He also does not mention that he was the one who didn't want to pay when the day was done, but at the time he had now crossed the line and I was paid for the time and the purchases that I had made to complete the closet. He does not mention the fact that in addition to the master bedroom closet system, a ceiling fan, garbage disposal, two hanging light fixtures and a curtain rod were installed. I have made several attempts to contact Mr Sam G. but he fails to return my calls. What bothers me the most about his comments is that he does not want to tell what really is going on, he stated one thing and expected another with no cost to him. I too have made a notation to Thumbtack customer service, warning them about Sam G. and what his tactics are. I don't want other fellow hardworking self employed persons, having to deal with a person like this. In closing, I am sorry to air this in a public forum but have to answer this in this way. As you can see by the other reviews on my page this is not what I do and I take pride in my work and will always deal with my clients in a personable and professional manner.
