Posted by Unknown on 21st Dec 2016 The product slid into the groove with minimal effort and I was able to easily remove the excess with a razor blade. However, for reasons I can only guess, there are several creases in the seal causing gaps between the floor and the seal. This in fact is the only reason I bought a replacement - because my previous seal had 4 gaps. Now my new one has about 10 gaps! I purchased a foam insert from Lowes which has minimally improved the issue. What else can I do? Thank you for letting us know I'm glad your install went smooth. This information we can relay back to the manufacturer since we do get our products second hand. On another note I have heard of people using the foam to also keep animals out of their garages. My old weather seal had dried out and came out very easily but when replacing it with the new one was a two person job.
Even with the lubricant they put in the end of the seal when they ship it, it was still difficult to put in. I am not a overhead door person but I am a retired packaging mechanic and it took some effort for me. After installed, works and looks great. There may be some easier techniques out there i just didn't know them. I put a short piece dowel that would just fit in the end of the seal and use it for something to pull with and my wife fed the seal into the end. I lubricated with what was sent and soap and water. Posted by Richard on 2nd Sep 2016 This was the product I needed, but the way it was packaged caused dimples in the seal creating gaps in the seal in certain spots which now allows for dirt and debris to enter my garage.
I've tried to allow them to expand over the last week with heat, but no luck. I think I'll have to find a foam insert that pushes the true form from the inside out. I received a seal promptly......waited for a cooler day to install it (which was today). The seal I received is a complete loop, with one arrow-shaped slide-in. When I began to take off the old seal, I discovered that it is basically a flat seal that slides into the bottom of the door in both the front and the back.
I hope this describes my dilemma correctly. I don't know if this door came with two different types of seals or not, but what was listed under this door won't work. As far as service........so far it's been great. Order #2645.............how can I get this corrected? GDPS: Richard, as far as the dilemma goes we spoke and got that handled.
