That piece of kit of course is the humble gaming chair. Here in New Zealand the options for high quality gaming chairs tend to come through distributors importing their chairs from the big brands and local owned gaming chair operations are few and far between. That is until now with Pro GC launching their range of Gaming Chairs at none other than New Zealand’s biggest gaming and pop culture convention, Armageddon. Inspired by their pink haired gaming daugther who was struggling to find a pink gaming chair to match the hair, the owners behind Pro GC decided to embark upon the process of designing (and bringing to market) a range of chairs that were not only comfortable but strong enough to withstand the rigours of long hours spent in them by gamers.
That comfort and strength also being complimented by a range of styles and “smoking hot” colours to match the individual style and personalilty that gamers have. After months of hard work Pro GC launched their chairs at Auckland Armageddon expo then followed up their debut by appearing the following week at Big Boy’s Toys. The response to the debut has been amazing. “We had such a fun weekend, getting our chairs out in public, having huge interest and so much positive feedback, as well as just enjoying the crazy experience that is Armageddon. I saw sights I don’t think I’d see anywhere else, amazing cosplay, battle weapons everywhere and the level of detail and dedication that people put into their costumes….incredible” says designer Tracy Kirkley. In the spirit of their launch, Pro GC gave away a chair to one lucky punter who entered their Tracy and her husband have run an IT consulting business for the last 12 years, so branching out into designing a range of chairs was new territory.
They sourced a manufacturer who has a well-established worldwide market in providing racing car seats in vehicles, and they had adapted their range to meet the growing demand for quality comfortable gaming and racing chairs. The Pro GC range comes in 5 different models – 2 larger /wider, 2 medium/ regular and 1 slim/When you sit in the chairs, you will find one that “fits”… it feels right for you- and then pick from a wide range of crash hot colours, black accented with bright primary colours, based on the design of a racing car seat. “All the other chairs we saw in the NZ market, had a weight range of 100- 130 kg max, we figured we could do better , so our steel frame construction which has lifetime guarantee, has weight capacity of 150 kg,. They are designed to provide the right support, in all the right places, lumbar and head rest cushions included, orthopedically and ergonomically correct. Everything adjusts- they tilt, lock, rock, arms adjust, gas lift seat, it’s when you sit in one you can feel the difference”
