This works if you want to hold the padding permanently in place against the frame. Replace the futon mattress back on the frame and on top of the nonskid carpet padding. The mattress should cling to the padding and remain in place on the frame without slipping. Measure and cut out eight 3-inch lengths of cording. Fabric and craft stores carry cording in various thicknesses and colors, so you can match the mattress color. Thread a heavy-duty needle. Double the thread and tie off the two ends together into a knot. Sew a piece of cording on each corner and each center's edge on the mattress's underside. Sew the ends of the cording in place against the fabric, folding them over to create loops. Make at least eight stitches on each looped end to secure in place so they won't pull off. Place the mattress back on the futon frame. Slip 3-inch tie wraps through each cording loop and through an opening in the futon frame. Pull the tie wrap closed, attaching the mattress securely in place against the frame.
Cut off excess from the tie wraps so they are unnoticeable. The mattress should be snug against the frame without slipping off.
