Since the frames came without slats, I thought "no prob; I'll grab some at Ikea".That's when we learned the beds are 1/2" wider than a standard twin. Just wide enough to be super-annoying because the slats don't go all the way across. There are three cross-beams, but since we use foam mattresses, I couldn't solve my problem with a box spring.This Bunkie Board proved to be the perfect solution.
It came in two halves, so you simple connect the two and screw them together, then slide the cover over and zip. The steel frame rails are about 3" apart and the cover is heavy-duty enough to spread the weight,evenly.Having fairly rough children who like to bounce all over their beds, I ordered one to see how it would hold up before committing to the cost of two. And after a month of use and abuse, it was like brand new. No bending, no breaking, no popped seams. So I took the plunge and purchased a second.Before reviewing I wanted to ensure these held up as well as I hoped, and they have. It's been six months for the oldest, and five months on the other, and they are still in perfect condition.
