We would generally recommend purchasing our entire system, both mattress and foundation. But if your box spring/foundation is in very good condition, meaning it’s sturdy and has absolutely no sagging, it should work fine. Your mattress warranty remains in place even when using your box I have a narrow staircase, and I’m interested in a queen set. I know your king sets come standard with a split foundation. Do you offer a split foundation for your queen sets?If you have a narrow staircase, we recommend ordering the split queen foundation, which has an additional charge of $35.00. There is absolutely no difference in feel between a regular foundation and a split foundation.
Split foundations are made for delivery purposes only. How high are the metal frames that the mattress and foundation sit on? Our metal frames are 7½” high. Our foundations are made of North American spruce, providing a durable platform-style support system for the Zenhaven mattress. They also contain our bio-based foams and are covered in our organic cotton. How long will the Zenhaven mattress last? Zenhaven is built to last 20 years with normal usage. Are your mattresses flame retardant? Our mattresses and foundations are all flame retardant.
We use a natural 100% organic New Zealand wool layer, which creates a flame-retardant barrier without the use of harmful chemicals. There are no sprays applied to the Zenhaven mattress. Does your mattress off-gas?Zenhaven is made from natural latex, which does not give off the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that petroleum-based foams do. Are there natural markings on your organic cotton covering? As beautiful and healthy as 100% organic ticking is, it is impossible to avoid natural markings that might appear. They are a result of the best organic cleansing process in finishing your product. There are chemicals available that can remove those natural markings, but we’ve chosen not to use them. The markings are completely harmless and only affirm the use of healthy organic material. What mattresses compare to Zenhaven? Please refer to our mattress comparison chart. What height foundation do I need to fit my bed skirt? The bed skirt goes over the foundation and under the mattress.
Common bed skirts are 15” high. That means our standard 8.75” foundation and a standard 7” metal frame work well. Is Zenhaven 100% organic? All the latex layers in Zenhaven are made from 100% natural latex, which is organic. Once the latex is harvested, a small amount of non-toxic, inorganic material must be added to convert natural latex from its liquid, tree-tapped form to its solid form. The Zenhaven mattress is as green as modern manufacturing will allow, in keeping with the green initiative Saatva takes with all its products. Every support layer in the bed is made from 100% natural latex, the flame-retardant is made from natural 100% organic New Zealand wool, and the cover from organic cotton. Are the mattress dimensions listed 100% exact? Standard published finished sizes of our handcrafted mattresses are estimated when measured from end-to-end in length and width. Actual dimensions may vary in total from standard finished sizes to allow for proper fitting of sheets and linens.
Mattress heights may vary slightly due to the precompression of raw materials. Why do the heights vary slightly? The reason is that the top portion of our mattresses are handcrafted, so the cover is pulled and set in place by hand before it is sewn in. What is the ILD of your latex layers? ILD, which stands for “internal load deflection,” is a standard metric used to indicate the firmness of a mattress layer. Technically, it’s a measurement of the amount of pressure needed to create a 25% indentation in a given material — so the firmer the material, the higher the ILD. Our ILD ranges from 14–34. Are there stores where I can try out the bed? We sell our mattresses directly through our website only. We don’t believe that trying a bed out for a few minutes in a store will determine how well you will sleep on it. This is proven by the horrific stories found online from people who had bought their mattress at a store and were not happy with their choice.
