Facts about the Jeep Liberty Jeep Liberty - History The Jeep Liberty is a compact SUV produced by the Jeep marquee of Chrysler. The Jeep Liberty was introduced in 2002 model year as a replacement for the Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep Liberty is built on a unibody-on-ladder-frame construction, which adds stiffness to its ride and handling, and enhances its off-road capabilities. generation Jeep Liberty featured three trim levels: the Limited, Renegade, and the base Sport. available with either 2WD or 4WD. In 2007 the Jeep Liberty Renegade trim was replaced with the Latitude. first generation was powered by a 2.4L straight-4, 3.7L V6, or a 2.8L straight-4 turbo diesel. In 2008, the Jeep Liberty received a complete redesign with a more boxy and off-road look. engine was dropped from the Liberty’s offerings. The only engine available currently is the 3.7L V6. The current Jeep Liberty has two available models: Sport and Limited. The 2009 Jeep Liberty was relatively
unchanged from the 2008 models.
