BOCA RATON, Fla., July 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ADT, a leading provider of security and automation solutions for homes and businesses, today announced the expansion of its partnership with Ring, inventor of the smart doorbell, reinforcing its leadership position in the Smart Security space. Beginning today, new ADT customers across the country can purchase the Ring™ Video Doorbell from ADT and benefit from ADT’s professional installation, service and support, including the ability to incorporate the Ring Video Doorbell as part of their ADT Pulse® smart home security system. Current ADT Pulse customers who already own a Ring Video Doorbell, or purchase one from a select retail location, can also incorporate the product within their Pulse system through self-install. Ring, a Wi-Fi connected, HD video doorbell, enables customers to monitor their front doors from anywhere via the free Ring app (iOS, Android, Windows 10). It is common for burglars to first knock and/or ring the doorbell to see if someone is home before breaking in.

With Ring, homeowners can see and speak with whoever is at their door, giving potential intruders the impression they are home, even when they are not. If a visitor does not physically press Ring’s button, built-in motion sensors detect movement, trigger instant mobile alerts and initiate HD video recording. Now, with ADT Pulse integration, subscribers can make their homes even more secure by locking the door, turning on the lights, and activating their ADT security system directly within the Ring app, all while seeing who is at the door. By connecting the features of both Ring and ADT Pulse, customers can extend the capabilities of their technology to create an even smarter, safer home and add convenience to everyday tasks. “By combining the power and security of ADT with the control and convenience of a Ring Video Doorbell, customers can get the ultimate in front door protection,” said ADT Chief Innovation Officer Arthur Orduña. “ADT continues to build out its security and home automation ecosystem through strategic partnerships with best-in-class smart home solutions like Ring, and more integrations are on the horizon.”

“Ring and ADT share the same mission of reducing crime in neighborhoods. By integrating Ring within ADT Pulse, we are providing customers with a level of security that simply cannot be matched,” added Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor, CEO, and Founder of Ring. Expanding Our APIs to Encourage Future IntegrationsToday’s announcement that the Ring Video Doorbell has integrated within ADT’s Pulse ecosystem is further proof of the company’s plan to continue to open its Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to enable best-in-class smart home integrations. Later this year, ADT will be expanding the ADT Pulse Developer Program to encourage innovative Internet of Things (IoT) companies to develop their products with the ADT Pulse experience in mind. As a result of this program, ADT customers will benefit from the ability to use some of their favorite smart home devices integrated within the ADT Pulse platform – ensuring a single user experience that’s not only smart, but also secure.

With these products, Ring has created the neighborhood watch for the digital age and continues to prevent burglaries and keep homes around the world safe. With Ring, you’re always home.My ADT security camera system was indeed a great deal. Every other day, a mischievous guy from nowhere comes over to my porch and drops a terribly stinking brown bag of dog poop. I had an ADT Security Camera System for 3 months. It was installed in less than 2 hours and I got a little TV with a live feed and a DVD recording device for it for free! I also received access to an online live feed of the video stream. I had one security camera placed next to the front porch so I could get a great view of my front door and a bit of the walkway leading to the front door. I had the other ADT security camera placed in the back yard, positioned in a similar position so I could see the door and a good portion of yard leading up to the door. It served me well, although, luckily it never caught a burglar in the act.

It did catch another perpetrator in the act though. These Smart Cameras Alerts you When You're Away! Here’s my story with the ADT home surveillance camera system. I originally became interested in getting home security camera system installed because I was getting a frequent visitation from a scoundrel who found it hilarious to drop a “brown bag special”, or a burning brown bag of dog poo at my front door step. It was stinking up the entire front porch and there was a burn mark right in front of my door. This had happened 4 times in one week! I knew something had to be done. A quick call to the same contractor who installed my ADT/Brinks Security System for my home said that ADT Security services had a great surveillance camera system, and they had a special promotion going on for the surveillance monitor fee being waved. Curiously, after I had installed the camera, the perpetrator seemed to take a break. I almost felt as if I had wasted money on the installation of the ADT Camera Security system.

Then, about 2 weeks after the installation, I caught him. It ended up being the next door neighbor’s son. I showed my neighbor the security video recording, and he was appalled. He promptly offered to pay for the installation fee that I paid for the ADT security cameras. I respectfully refused the offer and only asked that he make sure it never happened again. After about a month of continuing the service, I decided it was no longer worth it. I had no more run-ins with the “poo man” as my wife and I referred to him. ADT Security was very supportive about canceling my video security camera service before the 2-year contract had expired. My contract had stipulated that I pay a cancellation fee, but the representative that I spoke to waved the fee that I would have had to have to pay. I was very pleased with the customer service. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service, the unit, and the customer service. If it wasn’t for the fact that I found my indoor security sufficient and that the “poo man” was accounted for, I would have certainly kept the service.
