Friday official Trailer

Friday: A hood comedy was written by Ice Cube and directed by F.Gray Gray(who by the way directed most of Ice cube’s music videos at that time.). The movie is about 2 individuals Craig and Smokey who will have an unusual Friday. Craig was just fired from his work and Smokey was a weed dealer who is reckless and smoked most of the product he was selling, when Smokey’s distributor ask his weed money which is about 200 bucks and promised to kill him if he doesn’t come up with it by the end of the day Smokey turns his face to his homie Craig…. I almost wrote the whole movie but if u haven’t watched it, it’s a movie I recommend watching because few things I am going to mention.

My 1st take of this movies is, of course, the comedy, this movie is really funny and Chris tuckers classic high pitched voice comedy gave the movie its hood vibe comedy, not to mention the chemistry he had with an ice cube. From Craig’s dad(who is a dog catcher) to the iconic name Felisha, most of the supporting characters are also funny. The supporting cast is that money but the make this movie huge.

My 2nd take was is how the director has a small story to work with and make it big. The story is a one day story which u can tell it at a certain event or as a dinner story but the makers of this movie made it’s big enough to make it’s a movie, not just a movies a popular comedy. And the fact that the director of this movie was 25 years old at the time is impressive. And this tells us even though the story has a big role in movies presentation of that story is key.

In general, this movie tells a day to day life in a funny but ordinary way yet it tells a big story and even most the characters are built in a very simple way but have their own stories . for example we can see the character of Flisha played by Angela Means, she is the hoods crack addict who bothers everybody by asking to borrow money and sometimes weird things but she is not just a random crack head in the movie she is the sister of Debbie who is played by the actor Nia Long who has a bigger story in the movie.

Well this is mostly my take and personally, it’s a great comedy with a lot of story and message behind it
