Thermo Tent changes the traditional concept of a tent by placing insulation inside the outer walls to help keep campers warm during cold weather and prevent them from overheating during the day - just like a houseThe company has developed layers of breathable insulation that can be placed inside the waterproof layers and help to maintain the temperature inside.

It claims the insulation can also help to block out noise, meaning campers can avoid being woken early by the sounds of screaming children and could prove a hit at festivals. The Thermo Tents use a similar waterproof outer as standard tents but the interior uses a padded insulation material that attaches to the poles. They also come with a carpet. Sizes range from three-person to six-person tents, which feature a porch and windows.Using lightweight materials the firm has reduce the weight and size of the tent.Thermo Tent is also hoping to produce a version that can be sent to disaster zones - and is sending a batch of Thermo Tents to to Nepal to help with the aid crisis following the recent earthquake. But unlike many other tents, which are often built for their lightweight design, the insulation makes the packed size of the tents are likely to be larger than others on the market.  The idea was dreamt up by inventor Derek O’Sullivan, 38, from Fenit near Talee in Ireland, after spending sleepless nights in the cold while camping with his young family.

He said: ‘I was camping in Snowdonia with my wife Julie and had awoken, freezing in my tent, for the umpteenth time.‘I sat up and said “enough”. The following morning I started sketching a tent that would keep us comfy - and Thermo Tent was born.‘From those sketches, we have developed the world's only correctly thermally and acoustically insulated tent. ‘Essentially our tents are warmer in the cold times, cooler in the hot times and all noise is muffled, in and out.‘Thermo Tent is the result of marrying brand new and innovative insulation technology with our new multi layer tent design.’Thermo Tents use a similar waterproof outer as standard tents but the interior uses a padded insulation material that attaches to the poles. The tents come in a range of sizes from three-person to six-person tents, which feature a porch and windows.Using lightweight materials the firm has managed to reduce the weight and size of the tent. Thermo Tent uses an insulated inner and a carpet on the floor to help keep campers warmer during the night

The large six-person tent has an uninsulated porch and lounge while the sleeping area is insulated to keep campers warm at night and can be split into rooms for families The insulation can be adjusted to help increase ventilation if required during the night, as shown above. Prices start from €485 (£350) for an insulated three-man tent and  €1,190 (£850) for a six-man versionThermo Tent is also hoping to produce a version that can be sent to disaster zones - and is sending a batch of Thermo Tents to to Nepal to help with the aid crisis following the recent earthquake. But unlike many other tents, which are often built for their lightweight design, the insulation makes the packed size of the tents are likely to be larger than others on the market. As most families tend to camp from the back of their car, however, it is not something the company sees as being an issue. The makers claim the Thermo Tent is simple to put up but can also cope with windy weather conditionsThermo Tent has launched the product on the Kickstarter.Prices start from €485 (£350) for an insulated three-man tent and go up to €1,190 (£850) for a six-man version.

Mr O’Sullivan added: ‘Although I loved to camp, something used to really annoy me about my various tents. Derek O'Sullivan came up with the design for the Thermo Tent (above) after waking up cold during the night while camping with his young family in Wales. The insulation helps to regulate the temperature in the tent The tent also features large windows to allow the family to enjoy the view while out of the wind and rain‘Once the temperature dropped outside they immediately became like ice boxes inside, then once the sun hit them directly they were like saunas.‘And whenever I camped in a large campsites, I might as well have invited everyone in, as there was no acoustic barrier between us and the outside world.‘Our breathable insulation slows the transfer of heat in and out of the tent, as it would in a building.‘We have managed to overcome issues like bulk and condensation risk, and we have come up with a top quality, mobile tent that will introduce you to a new level of comfort outdoors.’

If climbing into a tent is not really your style, then a a Swiss company has another solution - a kit that converts any car into a miniature home. The Swiss Room Box is modelled on a Swiss army knife and includes everything needed for a comfortable camping trip, including a double bed, table, chairs and camping stove. The kit folds up to the size of a suitcase in order to fit inside the boot of a car and can be unfurled in five minutes to transform a vehicle into a place to sleep, cook and eat, it claims. The main base of the all-in-one device is placed in the boot of the car, while the front of the bed is supported by a built-in suspension system.Similar to a Lego design, the device clips together without the need for tools and allows the bed to be levelled to ensure a good – and even – night’s sleep.
