Aluminum + stainless steel 101.6 x 16.5 x 16cm 80 x 55 x 66cm We are coming to Barbados in Feb for a week and stayng in the Accura/Dover area at a cottage we have rented. they do not supply beach chairs. I understand that most of the beaches offer beach chairs & umbrellas for rent with some allowing you to spend the cost at there place but I am a bit of a tight wade & feel I can spend that extra $$ on other things. What I was wondering is how easily is it to purchase the folding beach chairs on Island & what would the approximate cost be?

One destination mentioned in this post I understand the cost! We always have beach chairs and umbrella when you stay on Barbados. It is especially nice when you tour the island and want to pull up to a beach without facilities (like Bathsheba). They are expensive and a little hard to find on the island. Last winter we flew jetBlue and were able to put check in as a piece of luggage two high back sand chairs that we wrapped together in packing tape! Another thing we do is take on a small soft cooler that can be put in the onboard stow bin. Inside we pack a some small sandwiches and snacks. Take some ziploc and have them filled with ice once inside the gate. This way you don't have eat plane or airport food (saving more $) and you have a cooler to travel around the island with! Enjoy the island, we've been going every year for the past 20! Some people bring folding in a bag beach chairs from home. The type they sell in Canadian Tire. If you can find them this time of year.

Buying them in Barbados is expensive, take a look at Cave Shepherd, Carters or Home Hardware. You'll need a car or taxi to get to the last two places but a bus to Cave Shepherd. Hey CBarbados & Canby, Thanks for the reply, I did check on line & they are quite expensive on Island, just wanted to check as my intention was to bring then as checked luggage & just leave them at the place we have rented rather than paying a checking fee to bring them back. As luck would have it, we have no small of these foling/baged beach chairs & at this time of year it is looking like a challenge, may just hit the kids up for there's & buy them new ones in the spring. CBarbados, we will definatley be bringing a small cooler to take to the beach for lunch's and a cold beveage or two. You might want to have a look at a WondaWedge. It's small and flat to pack, and you blow it up to become a wedge you can sit against to read or lay back. We have taken these on many beach vacations. It's comfortable on sand or grass, wouldn't be so great on a hard surface.

We ordered directly from the website. Will check into that, thanks I saw this and brought this...folds up small....fit in suitcase .... We had the same problem. We are here for 3 months - but on a very tight budget. Fortunately we know the local scene relatively well and managed to get a "no-thrills" 2 bed appt for coppers [U$45pn]. We do all our travelling by bus [the TripAdvisor guidance is wrong about the buses, they are B$2 or US1 as far as you want/need to go on that route]. We bought 2 x low-profile [i.e. bum low to the sand] fro SHERATON Shopping Mall at B$50 each [approx£17]. SHERATON is slighyly inland from Bridgetown and you will need to get a bus there, or a ZR or a taxi [NO! Wait you said you were on a budget - bin the taxi!]. Alternatively, buy "stick" chairs from AMAZON and bring them out with you. Oh, and whilst in ACCRA/Rockley, try SHAKERS Restaurant! Not expensive, steaks to die for. Cdn, we got 2 'low boy' beach chairs from Home Hardware, RIO I think.

They may still have them in stock and you can order from their catalogue. We will have to pay $25 to Air Canada for second piece of luggage but that is much cheaper (including chair price) than they are in Barbados. They are also the type we want with arms, low boy, tilting back etc. We'll just leave them there for next year. We might be staying at Infinity On The Beach. How much is it to rent chairs and an umbrella? Do any of the hotels on Dover supply chairs and umbrellas? Lovethebeach you will find that most, if not all Hotels on the beach provide beach loungers and umbrellas free of charge to their guests.
