Were they frightened and talking to each other all that time? Did they scream out for help when no one was there to hear? Did they hold hands for comfort?"It is almost unbearable to think of and we want answers. How could the frame fall in the first place?

Mrs Gibbons demanded the room was broken into on Thursday.

That was hard enough to cope with, it is such an appalling way to die, but when the post mortem results were given to us we couldn't bear it."They had been alive for days before they finally asphyxiated between 11pm on Wednesday and 2am on Thursday."The holiday firm MyTravel, which booked the room, has started its own investigation.A company spokesman said: "Until we have a report with the findings, the details of this tragedy won't become fully clear."Holidaymakers staying at the property in similar style studio apartments have been moved to different apartments or properties in the area."Mrs Bowman, a former council cleaner, was widowed in February, 1999, when her estranged husband Ronnie, a haulier, died of cancer aged 58.
