Flood

Anisah Maulidiyah

A flood is an overflow of water that submerges land that is usually dry. Floods can also occur in rivers when the flow rate exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders in the waterway. Floods often cause damage to homes and if they are in the natural flood plains of rivers.

A flood happens when too much rain falls, brought by storms and strong winds, and which can't be absorbed by the soil. Rivers burst their banks and the water spills onto the land. Strong winds blowing across the sea make huge waves that surge onto the land and flood coastal areas.

Some methods of flood control havebeen practiced since ancient times. These methods include planting vegetation to retain extra water, terracing hillsides to slow flow downhill, and the construction of floodways (man-made channels to divert floodwater).

There are some solutions of floods. Basics of River Intake & Outfall Projects, Aqua-Barrier Inflatable Dam for Dredging Projects, Using Diversion Pipes to Maintain Water Flow, Using an Inflatable Dam for Concrete Repair, Aqua-Barrier Uses for Canal or Culvert Construction.
