I've been rocked by hotel beds in the past. But recently I stayed at the Marriott in San Diego and had the best night of sleep in my life. It was so good that I ripped the 400 thread count sheets aside to get a better understanding of the mattress. It appeard to be some kind of a pillow top but had no tags or brands. A little sleuthing (and some help from the concierge) led me to the Marriott Bed for sale on the Marriott site. Alas it is not the same as the bed I slept on. No doubt this one would be comfortable too. But I realize I don't need to buy a whole new mattress to achieve the same coziness. What I loved about the Marriott bed was how it enveloped me and was soft enough to sinnk into but firm enough to not kill my back. By contrast, my mattress at home is just plain old firm/hard. Probably just a mattress pad or featherbed will help tremedously. I'm considering this featherbed from Overstock or this Marriott mattress pad. Anyone else have a great experience with a hotel bed?
