The 75-minute movie will be followed by a 30-minute community discussion on “What’s Next: Opportunities to Engage in Building Resilience in Our Community.” Students in Fauquier County Public Schools will attend school for a half day on Wednesday, March 15, a day originally slated for schools to be closed for parent-teacher conferences. In addition, the school year will end earlier than expected – prior to Memorial Day – thanks to revisions to this year’s calendar recommended by the superintendent and approved by the Fauquier County School Board on Feb. 27. The school year will now end on Friday, May 26, and the last two days of school, Thursday and Friday, May 25 and 26, will be half days, which is the common practice for the two final exam days of each school year. Three students in the automotive technology program at Fauquier High School took first, second and third places at the District 10 SkillsUSA automotive technology competition held Feb. 18 at Fauquier High School.

A selection panel will choose one of the 16 teachers to be the Fauquier County Teacher of the Year, and that teacher will be entered into the Post’s Teacher of the Year competition. The Fauquier County Teacher of the Year will be announced in mid-April. At the school board meeting each school’s Teacher of the Year nominee received an award in the form of a glass apple. The Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation will also honor the nominees at a reception where each will receive a cash award. The Athletic Boosters are hosting Liberty High School’s first Hall of Fame dinner on March 11th, beginning at 5:30pm in the cafeteria.  Tickets are on sale in the Finance Office until next week.  Come out and support our alumni and distinguished honorees. Bring your lunch to the library next week on Tuesday through Friday for our free movie event.  Remember to stop by the library to get a ticket in advance. LHS Family – the boxes for the canned food drive are looking bare!!!  Do your part to help put the service in LHS and bring in canned and non-perishable foods to help families who are less fortunate than you.  Don’t forget – the winning class gets bragging rights!  Juniors are once again in the lead. Attention Seniors, would you like to shadow a banker for the day and qualify for a scholarship? “Bank Day” is March 21st this year and hosted by Oak View National Bank. Course Registration materials are now available through Homeroom Teachers or in the Counseling Office.  The Counselors will begin meeting with students one on one starting next week and working in reverse order (Juniors then Sophomores then Freshman).  Please go online and update your Academic Plan prior to meeting with your counselor and complete the Course Registration Sheet. Does dinner and a show sound great to you? Come out and support the Liberty Theatre Department this Friday for a Spaghetti Night and Variety Show Fundraiser.  Tickets are 8.00 for adults and 5.00 for children. Dinner runs from 6:00 - 7:30 with the show starting at 6:15! Come meet the cast of The Wizard of Oz and eat some good food! Hope to see you there! Attention Students who are interested in Cheerleading at Liberty High school for the 2017-2018 school Year.  Liberty cheer will be hosting tumbling sessions every Friday in March and April - Cost is $10 per session.  If you have a Back- handspring your session will be 3-4:00pm. Beginner classes will be held from 4 to 5:15pm.  Students are welcome to stay the entire time to work on other cheer skills.  Please contact Katie Waddle in room 209 or Alicia Schrank in room  128 if you have any questions.The dresses will only be here until the end of the day Friday. I look forward to meeting parents and discussing details of the upcoming season on March 1st at 7pm in the main gym. The final (brief) interest meeting for Boys Tennis will be held this Thursday immediately after school in Room 1205. Plan to be there if you are trying out on Monday! A few notes about the next couple of weeks in the Rock Ridge baseball community. There will be an informational meeting about tryouts and expectations next Monday 2/13 at 4:05 in room 1402. On Wednesday, February 15th there will be an interest meeting for girls lacrosse. The meeting will be held at 4:00 in the library and will discuss tryouts, necessary paperwork and information abo There will be a girls soccer meeting Thursday, February 2nd after school in the Drivers Ed Classroom.  We will go over the try-out information and expectations during the try-out process. Winter conditioning will begin next week on Tuesday 01/17/2017. From 4:20 to 6pm. We will have two sessions each week until tryouts on February 20th, 2017.
