For years I dreamed of demo`ing my old bathroom/laundry area. It was such a huge project I never thought anybody would be willing to tackle it. When Hennessey consulted on the project he said he could do it and designed a dreamboat of a master bathroom. First he knocked down any walls necessary to make one large master bath and a simple laundry room. He came in and gutted the walls to the 2 x 4’s and the ceilings to the roof so that both rooms could have beautiful high ceilings.When it came to the actual bathroom - we spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted. To start with I wanted to focus on a large, functional shower instead of the traditional bathtub. I was able to work directly with a skilled sketch artist to design the Iris flower pattern for the shower door. Hennessey worked with the glass contractor to have the etching applied and then recommended the extra coating on the glass door to make it self-cleaning and resist water spots. This has proven to be a winning idea!
It sounds silly, but I really wanted an arch over the glass door. Hennessey worked with all the contractors to make sure the special cuts for the dry wall and tile were completed and I could have my arch. He insisted on a full bench in the shower and insets in the tile walls for his/her soaps and shampoos. We ended up installing a specialty bath tub but that was only for resale purposes.My bathroom is perfect!I was fully involved in choosing top grade tile and granite for the sinks and we were able to get beautiful cherry wood cabinets. When the dry wall and electrical was being installed Hennessey supervised every step and made sure the lines were clean for the light soffits, a beautiful fan was installed and there was adequate ventilation. He worked with Ferguson’s to buy top of the line Marbella fixtures which have maintained their beautiful chrome appearance over time.Next to the bathroom, Hennessey built a separate room for my laundry. It has a work bench, a window to look over the garden, shelves for soaps and a place for my cat’s possessions.
