Is it impossible to be real friends with someone much older or much younger than you?

I'm going to talk about friendship. How we make friends? Humans like to communicate with other people. We didn't make our first steps yet but we already want to hear speech and discover the world. The first friends in our life are our parents, isn't it?

We had made the first steps and our world is getting bigger such we find new friends near our house. In kindergarten and school, we make new friends and we spend our time together because we have common interests. Does it mean we are friends?

While we getting older we understand that we can have common interests not only with people of the same age. We communicate and exchange our experiences with colleagues and some of them are much older than us. They can't entertain like we do because often they have a different pace of life. But sometimes we have good advice from them or support in a tough situation. Does it mean we are friends?
