Having carpet in your office or dining area can make it difficult to slide your chair away from the table or closer to the desk. The bottoms of the legs can catch on the carpet when you attempt to move the chair, and you might find yourself sliding from the seat of the chair while the it remains in its original position. Adding furniture glides to the bottom of the chair legs can make the chairs legs slide across the carpet and keep the chair from stalling mid-scoot. Turn the chair over so the bottoms of the legs face up toward the ceiling. Measure the bottom dimensions of the chair legs. Purchase self-adhesive furniture glides to fit the bottom of the chair legs. Make sure to purchase carpet furniture glides and not hard-surface furniture glides. Clean the bottom of the chair legs with an all-purpose cleaner and degreaser. Cleaning the bottom of the legs ensures the adhesive sticks to the chair legs.
Let the legs dry. Peel the paper backing from the adhesive on the furniture glide. Press the adhesive side of the glide to the bottom of the chair leg. If you purchased adhesive furniture glides that included screws for wooden chair legs, continue to the next step; if not, skip to the final step. Drill pilot holes through the small holes in the center of the furniture glides with a 1/16-inch drill bit and a cordless drill. Insert the provided wood screws through the glide holes and into the pilot holes. Use a screwdriver to drive the woodscrew into the chair legs. Turn the chair over so the legs sit flat on the floor. Just added sticky backed floor protectors. My Daughter opened a new salon with 5 chairs on castors. For health and safety she needed the gliders. The castors removed easily and the gliders went on with no problems. I bought these to replace castors on an Office chair I have at home. The castors did not cope well with my carpet.These Gliders push into the socket used by the castors. Great stabilisation to a reclining seat. Wheels kept breaking but these are much more stable than castors. It does allow the sat to slide but not very easily.
