Why scientists say you should never make your bed If you don't like the idea of thousands of bed bugs making a love nest in your bed, you should probably stop making it - scientists have found. Your friend who always makes their bed and judges you for not making yours? Their bed is crawling with around 1.5 million (on average) microscopic dust mites and bed bugs. You can greatly reduce this number by simply being a lazy slob. Get out of bed and don't even think about making it. “We know that mites can only survive by taking in water from the atmosphere ing small glands on the outside of their body…Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.” A recent study has proven that, at any given time, there are an average of 1.5 million microscopic insects called dust mites living between your sheets. These tiny, beetle-like creatures feed off human skin cells and require a warm, damp atmosphere to survive and thrive.
When we sleep, we sweat. In fact, the average person may sweat up to a litre of fluid per night. To put it another way, if you collected and drank this sweat you'd be getting 1/8th of your daily recommended amount of water and grossing out your partner till they leave you in the process. This sweat also creates an ideal breeding ground for the mites, who see your sweat as an ideal place to have an orgy. That is, unless you leave your bed unmade. If you leave your bed unmade, you turn it into a bedbug killing machine, not unlike a Dexter kill room. Dr. Stephen Pretlove explains: "When you make your bed, especially immediately after waking, you’re trapping your body heat, your skin cells, and most importantly, your sweat, all over the bed. But leaving the bed unmade exposes the sheets to air and light, drying them out and depleting the mites’ lifelines." So no need to make your bed, and time to call anyone who does a filthy, terrible, bed-bug ridden person.

Has Anyone Tried IKEA's Foam and Latex Mattresses? Good Questions: Has Anyone Tried IKEA's Foam and Latex Mattresses? I'm looking for a new mattress for me and my boyfriend and the only issue we have is he likes to sleep on a really firm mattress (stomach sleeper) and I like a mattress with some give (side sleeper) so I thought latex or memory foam might be the best bet... firm but with some give. I know about the Sonno Versa mattress from DWR, I suppose that would be ideal, but it's a little pricey for us right now, especially since we have to buy a bed as well. So I've been eyeballing the foam and the latex mattresses from IKEA...I would love to hear about any of the readers' experiences with these mattresses before I buy... trying them out at the store is nothing like the experience of sleeping on them night after night!
