The shikibuton is the mattress, and the kakebuton is the quilt. We import limited quantities of hand-made quality futons from a small family-run business on Shikoku. We do not sell mattresses for sofa beds, chairs or slatted bases. Authentic Japanese futons require a solid flat surface. Both the shikibuton & kakebuton come individually stitched (quilted) and therefore, need to be covered.
