It works for 2-3/8 in. and 2-3/4 in. backsets, and 1-3/8 in. and 1-3/4 in. thick doors. It features two bi-metal hole saws and a height alignment window for accuracy. Use to install door locks on wood and metal doors 2 bi-metal hole saws Accepts common backsets of 2-3/8 in. and 2-3/4 in Fits common door thicknesses of 1-3/8 in. and 1-3/4 in. Will it work on a thinner door 1inch.The minimum thickness is 1 3/8" because the latch hole itself is 1" in diameter, and has to be centered on the thickness of the door. Doors that are 1" in thickness (or smaller) can't be drilled with this kit, and standard door knob lock-sets and standard deadbolts can't be used.

If you have a special, small lock-set that you're planning to use on your thin door, consider contacting the lock-set's manufacturer for a template. I've run into this problem with older mobile home installations, so those specialty suppliers might be a place to start. Will this work on a mobile home door? Will this work for a fiberglass front entry door? Yes, this product can be used on fiberglass. can I use this to drill a 7/8: strike bore If your 7/8" bore opening is centered on the 2 1/8" lock opening (as a 1" bore opening would be), then the answer is yes. My method is simple. I start drilling the bore opening with a 1" hole saw, but as soon as the pilot bit contacts the door edge, I stop. I use the mark that the pilot bit made as my exact center point, and I switch to a 7/8" bit. Since I'm drilling with an exact center point, the 7/8" bore hole is perfectly centered on the 2 1/8" lock opening. This method also works for me in reverse when I'm enlarging lock and bore openings.

The kit/jig allows easy overdrilling of older, smaller lock and bore openings. Hole saw overdrilling without this jig was always a nightmare. Now it's as easy as installing a new lock. Will rhis work on a 2 inch thick door Sorry No, it fits doors either 1-3/8" or 1-3/4" thick will this work on a Steel door? I used it on bimetal entrance doors. I doubt it would work on solid steel. Does it work on deadbolt locks Yes can be used to install a deadbolt lockset or traditional handle lockset. Will this work on a solid masonite door? These hole saws easily cut through Masonite. But to clarify an earlier post - "bi-metal" doesn't mean that the hole saw also cuts metal. Bi-metal means that the hole saw ITSELF is made from 2 types of metal. A very hard metal such as high speed steel may be used for the teeth, while the shaft may be made of spring steel so that it will be more flexible while drilling. This means that a bi-metal hole saw (or other blade) performs much better in wood, and can often be used for metal and other materials as well.
