Replacing the front door locks on your Mercedes C320 involves the removal of the door panels, exterior door handle and left window rail before you can remove the lock. Please see our article on removing your front door panel and theYou must complete the work on the door panel and handle to get you to the point where this job starts.With the membrane off the door you can see the door lock, pull, release cable and wiring.Begin by unplugging the lock wiring connection from the panel on the door.Follow the wires back to the lock clipping the zip ties as you go. Do not pull the zip tie holders from the door frame as you can use them to reattach the harness during reassembly by inserting new zip ties.Use a T30 Torx and remove the three Torx screws holding the lock to the door frame.You will need to get the side of the window regulator closes to the lock out of the way to get the lock out of the door. Move the window all the way to the top. Drill out the three rivets holding the rail to the door frame and lift the rail out of its support hole.
This will give you enough room to lower the door lock into the bottom of the door and out through the access hole.Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure you hook the L shaped part of the door handle behind the bracket on the lock when reassembling. Note: the bottom two rivets had already been drilled out and replaced by nuts and bolts by a previous owner.
