Dedicated Distros are invented for PCs to enhance user experience. This in turn has changed the way we play games. There are different-different Distros available that allow you to play your favorite games but provide better performance than Windows. Gaming on PCs is not limited to Windows. Dedicated Distros provide a mind-blowing gaming experience. Now, setting up your gaming Linux Distros is not that technical. All of them have easy installation process. Here I Have filtered some of the best Distros you can come across. Happy Gaming!

  1. Manjaro Gaming Linux( Mgame) : Manjaro? It was supposed to be a technical, but it ain't. Manjaro is based on Arch Linux. Arch, is considered as technical Linux cause here you have to everything by yourself. But it is most powerful, lightweight Linux one will ever come across. Manjaro is here for you! Same performance, same Arch Linux but with the User-friendly GUI of Manjaro. This makes the powerful Arch Linux usable for beginners. That's why it is good for gaming. It has support for all the Graphics Cards and other hardware. You can find all sort of emulators within, PlayOnLinux, PCSXR, PCSX2, PPSSPP to name a few.
  2. Steam OS: Steam, as you already know is one of the most popular DRM and multiplayer gaming service provider. The community decided to launch a new dedicated OS for gaming. Based on debain, SteamOS is frelly available to everyone but is a bit technical in use. Though you can still use it with a little bit of Knowledge. It uses APT (Advanced Packaging Tool) to manage software on machine. This makes gaming experience better. Again its based on Debian, so assured performance and optimization gaming! And above all, its open Linux platform that gives you full control! Though hardware support is not as big as Manjaro, still has support for most of them. It will provide best connectivity to steam services though!

3. Ubuntu GamePack: Remixes of Operating Systems are quite popular nowadays. In this sequence, here we have a official release of Ubuntu GamePack by UALinux. Already built-in applications, wide range of support for drivers and media codecs make it a complete gaming Distro. It's already quite popular over the internet as its a ubuntu remix. It can be considered a ideal operating system for gaming. It has pre-installed features like Steam, Lutris, etc. Though its not that cool for heavy games. You can play a limited type of games and it is not also very handy when tested with games that need a good amount of C.P.U performance.

4. Play Linux: Play Linux- Work hard. Play harder, is a Linux distro designed for Gamers by Gamers! In the recent times, when Steam had developed its own SteamOS, gamers saw it as a step of steam to com petite with Microsoft's Xbox. There was a need of Linux based gaming system, so many group of people contributed to this "PlayLinux" . It has been around the tags of "Gaming Distro" though its not exactly suitable for heavy games. But is best for lighter games. It discourages the DIY( Do it yourself) which means it is very user-friendly. It has many driver issues though, but they don't overweight the features it provide. And well, it can't be considered as a polished release.

5. Lakka : At the heart of it, is one of the most famous emulator - RetroArch Emulator. For those who don't know, RetroArch is an open source Emulator which supports multiple platforms. Surely it means a powerful emulator could easily run games. Lakka is highly optimized to run even in the most low end PCs. You can count on it as most user-friendly game console though. It tries to minimize usage and hence reducing cost. And at last but not least, its open source so you can also contribute to the community and improve it.

6. LinuxConsole: Probably a misleading name 'LinuxConsole' seems like it can't ever support games. But LinuxConsole is categorized as Gaming Distro because of its wide range of software. It can also detect most of hardware(like Graphics Card). Though there are many bugs and it still can'y manage support for high end games.

So gaming era has changed and PCs are not out of race! These dedicated OS for gaming are small initiative to somehow compete with Xbox and PlayStation . These Distros are worth trying. They can support From Nintendo to PlayStation. Consider them all-in-one! Many of them are still in progress and are updated as fast as bugs are found.
