I have donated useable furniture to them in the past. I assume they sell them or make them available to people who need them. But I don't see any explanation of that on their website. The ARC sells all of their donations to Thriftown at Stassney and Manchaca. It's my favorite thrift store. I don't know if there is decent Goodwill in Austin but in Hutto, Georgetown, the stuff is junk and overpriced. The "good" stuff is sold at auction for more money than it's worth. Salvation Army in Round Rock also way overpriced. Expect to pay a couple of grand for a bedroom set. No, I'm not kidding. I have been a thrift shop shopper for years and I'm totally disgusted at the Goodwill and Salvation Army. The consignment stores or other thrift stores are often less expensive AND the items are better. They've gotten a bit too greedy. At Sally, people started donating really nice things and what did they do? They jacked up the price. They're acting like it's a Macy's. And, I used to advocate going there. Every once in a while you can pick up a bargain on something like a vase or book but that is about it.
