Working directly with the development teams, key responsibilities of the OPEX Engineer include:

·Operational excellence improvements

· Tools Development

· Service improvements in the production environment

· Service support and troubleshooting

· Incident reduction

· Capacity planning and scaling

· Change management activities

· Monitoring and metrics

· Participate in 7x24 on-call rotation

 Essential competencies / skills:

· 2+ years overall development/technical support experience

· 1+ years of experience leading others

· Deep understanding of support procedures and methodologies

· Experience with configuration management systems (working knowledge of Chef is a plus)

A strong understanding of web technologies:

· Excellent troubleshooting skills

· Proficiency in LAMP environment is a must

· A strong understanding of HTTP caching technologies (experience with Varnish would be beneficial)

· Experience with large database driven websites

· A deep understanding of the Linux OS

· A basic working knowledge of Windows Server OS and common services

Extensive scripting experience (e.g. Perl, Python, bash, Ruby, Windows Powershell is a plus)

· Excellent troubleshooting skills

· Solid networking knowledge

· Understanding of production monitoring and metrics and KPIs

· Knowledge of Zabbix is a benefit

· Experience with SQL scripting and MySQL would be beneficial

· Excellent documentation skills

· Experience in a 24/7 production environment

· B.S. degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or a related field
