• systematically or methodically arranged,
• individually accesible by electronic or other means

Protected by copyright effort put in place to collect, select and arrange the contents

But elements may be indually copyrighted

If substantial investment (in obtaining, verifying or presenting) is made, to protect extraction of a substantial part. Then there is protection of investment.

Rights of maker

• prevent extraction/re-utalization of a substantial part
• prevent repeated and systematic extraction/re-utalization insubstantial parts

Term of protection = 15 years after completion (= after initial database was made, additions classify as a new database

If database is a byproduct of the maker, it is excluded from database protection
