to it, it's given my sons room a lovely. It can be used as a full cot with adjustable position height so it can be lowered as baby stands up to ensure safety. You can then remove one or both of the sides depending on your child and stage they are at to make it into a proper toddler bed. When the child finally out grows the cot bed you can then use the attachments to make it into a sofa to give the child's room a lovely finishing touch (if you have the space) for them to read bedtime stories on. The cot also has a long storage draw underneath which is handy for storing clothes or books. It comes in three colours and has two teething rails to make sure baby don't hurt his/her gums. It’s available in walnut and white, so will suit whatever your taste and decor, and will convert to a junior bed once your child reaches around age two. Tutti Bambini say that it could fit an average -sized child up to around age six. The Louis is big and heavy, so not for space-starved families or if you need the flexibility to be able to move your cot around easily. It has a useful under cot drawer, which can be a great bonus, especially if you’re limited in space in the nursery. It’s big enough to store all your baby bedding or can be used to stash clothes or toiletries. Many cots have these as an extra to buy, so it’s a big bonus that it’s included in the price. It also easily converts to a toddler bed by removing the sides once your child is ready, usually at around age two, which makes it even more cost effective. Having it as a toddler bed however, does mean that any younger children won’t be able to use it as a cot, so if you have another baby you’ll have to buy another cot.
If you have the budget, you can mix and match the Louis with other furniture from compatible ranges, there is a matching wardrobe and changing unit with the same curving lines, but buying the whole set costs well over £1000, so not an option for everybody's budget! You can adjust the base of the Louis cotbed to three different heights, depending on your baby’s age: firstly have it at the highest level for newborns, so you don’t have to stoop over to pick them up, then move it down to the mid-level position once they can roll or sit up. Finally once they’re fully mobile, move it to the lowest setting so they are safely contained and the more adventurous don’t try and escape! The Louis is a beautiful piece of furniture that’s built to last, but it does lack a couple of key features, there’s no drop side function and also no teething rails, which can help prevent the cot’s wood being damaged by chewing tots. The mattress has retained its shape its sturdy and robust.The outer cover is lovely and soft and breathable. The mattress was not one that was recommended for the cotbed but it fits perfectly and is better value and quality than the one recommended for the cot. This double sided mattress can be flipped over for greater longevity and has luxurious pocketed springs for greater comfort.
