"What fabric is the cover made of? I didnt use the waterproof cover. Just used my own mattress cover. The tag says 100% polyesterjust put a sheet over it and its good. To be honest I purchased the Beautyrest while recovering (I know) because I needed something!! My previous (before temper) 12 year old mattress was a sealy latex/memory foam hybrid, which I had regretted not going one level firmer pretty much from the start. This one is just too firm and I now regret not going with the tight top (may still have this problem).
I am fine on my back and fully aligned which is so nice. The problem is that I am a side sleeper and the pressure on my hips and shoulders is almost unbearable. I know that it will break in but it is still going to end up too hard, but with perfect support. I have placed a cheap almost paper thin (Walmart) topper we had in the camper under a folded in half extra thick quilt. This has made it bearable and I can get through for a few days. I have had so many stumbles that I'm just hoping to get this right. Understanding that there is no one size fits all, how do I decide how thick of a topper to get? I want to be more comfortable but not lose the support of the mattress. I would also want a cooler option than pure memory foam. Thank you for any advice you can offer. I too had 3 back surgeries and the last one was it for me! I purchased a new bed right before the last surgery and purchased this gel topper 4 inch and its like heaven I have nothing but good things to say. I wake up well rested the only bad thing about it is if you typically lie in bed and watch tv you will fall asleep it is that comfortable.
On a scale from 1-10 I give it a 15! It isn't cool by any means but it is very comfortable. Will add layer of cooling and softness. I have tried other toppings and have not found one that is good. I have heard about the gel toppings and that they do not get warm. Seemed like a nice addition to my bed. We ordered a Serta Memory Foam Mattress several years ago and it said the dimensions would be 52" wide. It arrived and was comfortable but it was only 49" wide for a Full Size. This one claims to be 53"wide and hopefully it will be what it says. If it was for just one person it wouldn't be too bad but there are 2 of us and that makes it considerably smaller than a Full which is small already. i have horrible back problems, spondylolisis, scoliosis, had spinal fusion surgery, and the mattress toppers are an affordable way to help me sleep comfortably. i also can not stand to be hot while i sleep, so i thought i would try out the cooling gel memory foam. Because I need to not hurt and be able to sleep good I have a California King Size bed that the foam that goes in the pillow top of the mattress... is old and I am trying to see if this Mattress topper will fix the problem.

We hope the cover is comfortable and that it is really waterproof. My son has a Gel mattress topper and he strongly suggested I get one. After shopping around I decided on this one with waterproof cover. I wake up and in less than 2 hrs, my mid back hurts and I can only contribute that to the old mattress on the bed. To put on top of a very firm mattress, to give it some softness on top of support. I have one on my bed and love it so much I had to get one for my camper Because my boyfriend is constantly complaining that he's hot and that my mattress is too firm for his taste, so I want him to be more comfortable.
